Actually, it's not a 41% graduation rate. You don't understand what GSR measures.

What it looks at (for that particular graphic), is the players signed in UGA's recruiting classes from 2013-2016. It then looks if they got a degree from any school before 2023. Graduation rate only looks at if a player got a degree from UGA.

So for example... Jacob Eason got a degree from Washington. He counts as a failure for UGA's graduation rate for the 2016 class but a success for GSR.

UGA's latest football graduation rate (the percentage of their senior class who are graduating) is around 94%. UGA isn't keeping players on the field who aren't on pace to graduate. Hell, 9 UGA players this year had already graduated before the season started. That's nearly 50% of their senior class (which consisted of 19 players). But the GSR counts players who got LOI's. And from 2013-2016 a lot of those guys didn't stay at UGA very long. They included a lot of guys who transferred (some of whom graduated but not many). They included players who were dismissed from the team. They include guys who Mark Richt took a risk on who flunked out after a year. And they include guys who Kirby Smart ran off from UGA for either not being good enough or not being smart enough to stay at the school.

The problem is posters like you don't know what the numbers you're posting actually mean... because you aren't smart enough to actually read the numbers. Yes, Kirby Smart DID clean house when he came to UGA, and many of those players who got driven out of UGA didn't graduate. I don't really see that as a bad thing... it's just something that happened. It certainly doesn't reflect negatively on the players that actually were at UGA and playing for their football career.

So, to TLDR it for you since you're probably not quite bright enough to read all of this:

GSR is not about players sticking around to play but not graduating.

GSR punishes schools who kick out players who aren't getting it done in the classroom (or on the field). And UGA absolutely kicks you out if you fail in either part... as a player or as a student. Guys who don't have the grades in classes don't get coddled along. they get kicked out of UGA.
