Meddling was the real issue. The administration handles the actual academia portion well enough, although they were certainly incompetent in avoiding SACS problems.

Lucky for you they ended up resolving the issues before they lost it. It was about 5 or so years ago if I recall.

Maybe academically. But without crapping on one school, when I was at AU, greek orgs greatly preferred one to the others based on our experience.

Yeah, I don't know much about either school outside of athletics and academics.
