UT's decline can be blamed on many things, but one aspect that gets over looked is Tennessee can't maintain a program with in state talent alone. UT has historically needed to raid the surrounding states and sprinkle in some nation recruits as well. In the last decade West Virginia, South Carolina, Kentucky (via Louisville) have all shut their borders to one degree or another hurting Tennessee. I believe it is fair to say that the influx of cable TV football games and errryboddy being on TV has hurt UT worse than any other program. They used to be able to sell playing Bama, Georgia, Florida and Auburn on TV to a lot of those talents in the surrounding states. This is different than Florida. Who is as likely to win a national title this year as to have another season like last year.

Lol. Those states have been able to keep their talent because Dooley and UT have been terrible. Butch has already reversed that trend. Checkout the 14,15 and 16 classes.

People make too much of the a Florida having talent stuff. Yes, the state is loaded, but they have to compete with Miami, FSU and the rest of the country.

Trust me, if UF goes through a series of shitty coaching hires they WILL fall just like everyone else.

Zook was a shitty coach and was able to win 8 games a year based off of straight talent he recruited in to UF

zook was also arguably a better coach than Will Muschamp.

LET ME REITERATE THIS TO YOU:

Recruiting classes don't mean shite; it's player develop and coach.

Coach bullshite is no fricking Saban or Miles; he is a goddamn asskisser hired to help destroy the program...those type of coaches don't succeed in the SEC!

GET THAT IN YOUR GODDAMN frickING HEAD!

Botch can't.coach-he is not SEC material-for starters, he lost to a Dooley! That helps tell you a lot of things. South Carolina was Jacksonville vs. Houston luck!

Don't forget the borders are closed down.

The only way to steal talent: bullshite, lie and get leftovers turned down by other programs.

No, Florida has crazy amounts of in state talent compared to Tennessee. Tennessee, like Nebraska, was able to dominate out of state recruiting in the old days based on their reputation. Being a perennial contender in an age where only the biggest games were televised meant that teams like Nebraska and Tennessee were known across the nation. However, now that Tennessee isn't a perennial powerhouse and nearly every D-1 school has their games on television, it's a lot harder for them to recruit that elite talent since very little of it exists in their home state.

Florida doesn't have that problem because they sit atop some of the most fertile recruiting ground in the country. Who are they competing with for that ground other than Florida State? Miami hasn't been relevant since 2005. South Florida and Central Florida don't exactly scream "prestige". With the reputation, and more importantly location, that Florida has, it should never have to worry about a "Tennessee" decline.
