re: Is an ejection from the game enough for Wade?

Ref who threw Wade out of the game says he was ejected for the hit, not his actions after the hit.
FTR- To the OP. The ejection is probably enough, but a half game suspension tacked on to it as well is easily defensible.

I think that he should be suspended for the next game for being an arse, but not for the hit. The ejection served its purpose.

The fair catch has nothing to do with the call. Heres the ruling for you:
DIRECTLY from the NCAA 2011-2012 rule book:
Defenseless Player: Contact to Head or Neck Area—ARTICLE 4
Approved Ruling 9-1-4
I. Receiver A83 has just leaped and received a forward pass. As A83 is
about to regain his balance, B45 launches and drives into A83 above the
shoulder area with his helmet or shoulder. RULING: Foul by B45 for
targeting and initiating contact with a defenseless opponent above the
shoulders. Ejection for a flagrant foul
THIS is what I have a problem with. This happens every game. Helmet-to-helmet. Wade's the first person I can ever remember getting ejected. Chad Jones should have been ejected TWICE in 2009 if this is the standard.
Just be consistent.

I posted in the original thread and got called and idiot and a dumbass by about 20 people because i stated the following:
1. no fair catch was called. If Vandy teaches their return guys to call fair catches by A) Shielding their eyes from the sun or B) extending their arm horizontally in order to keep balance while running, the spec teams coach should be fired. I somehow doubt they do either of the above.
2. i saw no celebration. the announcers spoke of celebration but after watching it 20 times, i have yet to see any celebration. IF YOU HAVE VIDEO/PICS OF SAID CELEBRATION, PLEASE POST IT. I saw him get up all excited-like. When you boom someone (especially not yet knowing there was a penalty on the said hit) you will get up very excitedly.
3. the play wasn't ejection-worthy. i guess 80% of the SECrant posters have been on punt coverage teams. They must all know how easy it is to time a hit on a punt returner without being able to see the ball.
4. Horrible play by the return man. If he does the same thing on the same play against any other team, he will get BOOMED again.
5. Yes, there was an obvious kick-catch interference. Yes, he initiated helmet-to-helmet contact (such as Jarvis Landry did on Tre Mason). It is hard not to lower your head and brace for the impact you know is coming.
6. Also, if Wade doesnt boom that guy, the other arky player right next to him would have. Cause thats how you play football... Pussies.

From the rules.
Im guessing that is what the ref determined. Quit crying about it.

The amount of attention and outcry from this is fricking ridiculous. Did he act like a dumbass when he got ejected? Yes. Should he be suspended for the whole game for his attitude? Yes.
But to call him a piece of shite human being, say he should be kicked off the team, act like he committed murder...a little much. It's fricking football, boys.

Even if the Vandy player didn't call for a fair catch, he was leveled before the ball ever got there. It was a cheap shot and the ejection was deserved. Whether he gets any additional punishment for the hit will be determined by the SEC office (probably sit out the first half) and whether he gets anything for his antics will be determined by Arkansas (I wouldn't expect any additional public punishment but I bet he has some private time with the coach he kept mouthing off to during the escort to the locker room).

To end this matter....the coach that had him by the jersey and escorted him to the locker room beat him to a bloody pulp....End of story

if it were murder we would be discussing whether to let him choose lethal injection or if we demand a public hanging.
he hit a defenseless person. I say, kick him off the team, and the AD should ask Clive to kick him out of the SEC and ask the NCAA to kick him out of D-1, which includes AA.
No one should be required to go on the field with him.
He is either a retard or a socio-path. EIther way, he is not responsible for his actions.

Do you want Jefferson kicked off the team? Pure thug....kick him off. He's a sociopath and no one should be required to be on the football field with him.

Only a dumbass punt returner who doesn't fully understand his job gets cracked on that play.
Question: If a return man is going to let a ball bounce inside the 10, why do they still call for a fair catch??
Answer: So they dont get fricking killed.
He should have either:
A. Called fair catch, run up and catch it (his reaction to the kick was too slow to do this. He did not judge the punt well. Also, judging a punt is fricking hard)
or
B. Call a fair catch and get away from it, signal to your team to get away from it.
If you go with option C: Run up and and try to catch & return it, youre gonna get fricking drilled. There is no way around it. I don't care if they are Arkansas thugs or Stanford Astrophysics majors. (Does Stanford have that as a major?? hmmm)

The hit was 1 second off time. It was unintentional but aggressive. The announcers wanted to make a BIG deal out of it since they were wanting Vandy to win all game which did not happen for them. He should have been thrown out of the game but I really do not think he was celebrating or if he was his team mates and the trainers calmed him down and through him out of the game.
Alabama does that crap every game and I see no one making a big deal out of it.
and LSU did pretty much the same thing against Auburn and no one said throw them out of the game. Haters gonna hate and we are 7-1 right now and the 7th ranked team in the BCS. Like it or not Arkansas Razorback football is better than it has ever been in 22 years.

Only difference b/w this play and Wade's was that the punt returner clearly called for a fair catch here.
