I'm playing with two of our seniors who are down for the year. I'm excited. I've already warned them I'm terrible.

i like the battlefields and reading about the civil war but i just feel history doesn't paint it very fairly.

You're right - history is always written by the winners which means it's anything but unbiased. Most of the accounts are whitewashed to ignore the atrocities committed by the winners, and paint the losers as evil. You have to dig to find an accurate version of events.

If you ever want to read something interesting, read up on the Civil War and border conflict in Missouri/Kansas. It started well before the official start of the war, and was incredibly violent.

no doubt, hathcocks stories are pretty amazing as well and i think military channel had him as the best sniper ever.

kinda funny hathcock was number 1 ahead of this guy: the white death

he is very impressive with the shots that he made and the missions he took but the white death put down 505 soviets in less than 100 days.

while the soviets were probably an easier target than insurgents or the vietcong hiding in the jungle 505 is insane. also he was doing this in -40 to -20 temps with iron sights

I had a cousin on death row in Texas for killing a state trooper over there in the 50's or 60's. I can throw that in for the time being

In our Christmas gift exchange last year, I got my sister-in-law's boyfriend - a West Point grad and career military. I got him a couple of books on the border war. He was really excited, and said they didn't even include the border war in his courses on military history, despite the fact that it was an early example of successful guerilla warfare tactics.

iron sights

This makes it hard enough. dont know if you have ever been through basic training or anything but from experience it takes practice to shoot through iron sights...we zero'd our m16's in a 300 meters and tryin to hit a silhouette through iron sights at 300 meters if frickin difficult
