The reason the Redskins won't make the playoffs:

Whenever you're within 10 yards of the goal line, and you have Bama's RB corps, you do not go for a weird slip pass into what would appear to be a TAMU M2M Coverage. Best Scenario is either a Jumbo Package fake run (just basic I formation, with a 2 TE split, right tight end runs out on a slant to Corner of Endzone) or you power it in using Pistol / Jumbo Package and pray that your sitting fullback and make a hole.
I about turned the TV off when I saw that play unfold, because I knew that it was over for bama.
And I got excited as soon as I saw it was a pass. Idk why Bama went away from their strength in the run game in short yardage. I know A&M had been getting a decent push up front all night, but I think the Bama oline would have punched it in with Lacy in the backfield. A&M's secondary had been throwing confusing looks at AJ all night and you could tell he wasn't comfortable (he nearly got picked off earlier in the 4th by the same guy who eventually ended the game with his pick). Only explanation I can posit is that Bama thought if they knew their strength (Run), and we knew their strength, that they could catch A&M looking with the quick pass. I just don't understand the gamble in that situation, honestly.

JFF is a very good player in both his legs and throwing down the field. As long as he has wide receivers like Swoopes he'll be an excellent dual threat QB that will throw off a lot of the SEC conventional 3-4 / dime package defenses. A lot of the side walk fans will claim that their defenses will step up, but unfortunately I don't think that's the case. The only way I see to really stop him is to rush 2-4 guys on every play. The problem with that is that most 3-4 defense is Zone, so in rushing 4 you'll open up a lot of options for the passing game which I know he's gotten better at.
Yes, and that's where people who say UF and LSU shut him down must be wary. UF shut him down because JFF was under strict orders not to try anything remotely risky downfield, allowing the defense to key in and shut down his running lanes. LSU was a valuable lesson for him in being patient and not forcing plays. The Bama game saw that knowledge come to fruition. JFF can now legitimately hurt you if you let him sit back in the pocket and pick you apart, and beware a heavy pass rush because if he makes one move, he's gone. Obviously, it's not that simple and I'm not saying he's invincible, but defenses will have to be extremely disciplined to keep up with A&M's offensive attack with JFF at the controls, and next year is going to be interesting to see how defenses throw different looks at him and what new wrinkles KK and Sumlin can dial up.
