Been there.
It gets better after he's gone, though.

I understand why he was hired at Ole Miss. Eddie O was a nightmare. Hootie has been somewhat of a relief for them in a sense but I think he's pretty much done at this point. I may be wrong but it looks a lot like '04-'05 to me. I wish good things for Ole Miss and would like to see them competitive on a consistent basis ...just don't want them beating us, especially this year.

Houston Nutt might not be the answer for Ole Miss. But yes, he is a lot better than Coach O. But Ole Miss can't fire him after 4 years. I just don't think Ole Miss needs to get that reputation of being that "that" school that fires all their coaches. It's just hard to gain stability in a program when you keep losing coaches every 3 or 4 years. Hell, what if we do fire him and we hire some young up and comer? He has 3 good years and some big time program offers. He is gone and we are once again looking for another coach. It would suck.

Well, this year hasn't played out yet either. Who can say for sure what's gonna happen? I know a lot of Arkansas fans were saying the same thing in '07 when we were looking for a coach. People were saying it when we hired Petrino..."what are y'all gonna do in a couple or three years?, etc."
Can't afford to sell yourselves short.

I understand the fear of not knowing what will happen. I considered us very fortunate in getting Petrino when we did but the hiring process at the time was unnerving.

Right now, there are some really good coaches out there if it gets to the point of Nutt intolerance. But don't believe for a second that better things can't happen at Ole Miss.

imo opinion, state fan or not, he is not a good coach. he's been lucky to have some talented teams when he's won, but not what you would consider a top class coach. i really hope you guys go out this off-season and get a coach that is proven and will fit your program well. then again i'm a state fan so i hope this dumbass stays in oxford for another 30 years but seriously, yall deserve someone better

Nutt isn't a good coach, but he's better than Orgeron or Cut.

As long as he gets us to a bowl game (doesn't matter which one) I'll be happy.

I understand exactly what you are saying but Nutt is not just someone who was brought in from a small school. We as a fan base took a chance on a coach that was another schools left overs. Yes Nutt proved that he can coach some football by proving that he could coach talent when it is there. O brought it talent, that is not debatable but couldn't do anything with it and Nutt could.

The fact that I know we have talent on campus and we are losing to teams we shouldn't on a regular basis is what worries me. You can say JSU and last year was a big fluke because we lost so much on defense. But what about the games he lost in 08 and 09 that looking back on we should have won and it shouldn't have even been close.

My take is Nutt can win games and is a motivator when he wants to be. The fact that he loses to teams he shouldn't is something we cannot afford in our place in the SEC. Our only chance just like MSU and Arky for that matter is too win the games we should and in that one special year win a couple that we aren't supposed too. Nutt is not the coach that fits that build. As much as it pains me Mullen is that type of coach.

Mullen has proved to me that there are young coaches who can fit what we need at Ole Miss better than Nutt. If that means he only stays a couple of years the we have to live with that until we get to a point of a program where people can see the potential to win championships.

Jimmy Sexton will dick Pete Boone around and, unfortunately, given Boone's love of dick, he'll play along.

This was not lost on me.

You guys are crazy. Hooten Dale is the best you'll ever get, so why all of this nonsense talk about replacing him? With who? David Lee? I'll tell you what. If you fire Hooten Dale, OM will be replaced by Baylor within 3 years. That's how far your program will fall off the map. Anyone that wants Nutt gone is a goshdarn terrorist.

Before you guys do any sort of turnaround Boone has to go, he is a crab pinching bastard. Once Boone is gone clean house and get some youth, energy and fire in your athletic department, you'll be well on the way to competitive football as soon as that happens
