It’s not hate you see it’s concern that Petrino has built Arkansas into a serious, sustainable SEC contender in just three short years. If the Hogs weren’t a threat to supplant the a team or two at the SEC top then you would see very few threads trying to convince readers on here that Arkansas isn’t this, can’t do that, will never be able to (insert whatever you want) etc. It’s really no more complicated than that.

This is a perfect example of why people feel the way they do about Hog fans.

Every year, this is their year..."serious", "sustainable", "contender"...
they may be, but, they haven't proven it yet.

We hear the SOS every year during the summer...

except at QB and o-line....but don't worry about that. you guys should be awesome.

Really? Do you want to discuss the QBs? Arkansas has had a staff that could "plug-n-play" at the QB position to replace the starter who was injured/graduated since back in the wishbone/veer days.

O-line wise we now have guys who can pass block as well as run block...

I predicted LSU to go 9-3 this season and some LSU fans reacted to that like I had just pissed on all their faces. LSU fans are the most sensitive bunch on here,

Arkansas fans are just optimistic and not afraid to embrace the expectations Petrino and his coaching staff have set forth. We have all the confidence in Petrino because he's the antithesis of what we had in Nutt, and we had to live with him for a decade.

Arkansas is still the "new kid," the "big 6" want to maintain the status quo, and to hold onto their perception of the "big 6" they have to constantly talk down the rising star of the conference. I'll probably get some shite for saying "rising star," but you can't argue with Petrino's improving record each season he's been here.

They consider themselves the "flagship" of the SEC I think. Which is fricking fantastic.

After living for 15 years in Arkansas, I'd like to think I've built up the background and tolerance to banter with you Razorbacks for longer than six seconds.

But the part of Arkansas you live(d) in might as well have been Mississippi.

I think it's the official unofficial nickname of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Arkansas is the flagship university in its state, but I think everyone has their own idea on what exactly "flagship" means when using it on here to describe Arkansas. I just see it as a cool nickname (don't know how or where it started).

How did they come to this conclusion?

If we went by number of NC's it would be Bama

If we went off success over the last 20 years it would be Florida

If we went by most cheating Scandals it would be Alabama and/or Auburn.

If we went my most potential year in and year out it would be LSU.

If we based this on 1980 alone it would be Georgia.

If we based this on team with the best NFL player it would be Tennessee.

If we based this on best Game day atmosphere it would be Ole Miss.

If we based it on the best castration it would be Miss State

If we based it on Smartest it would be Vanderbilt.

If we based it on Basketball it would be Kentucky.

If we based it on the best QB to ever use Meth then I can see Arkansas.

Just sayin.....

tFlagship comments started after beating LSU and as a dig at them by sao or wmr. It grew from there and evovled to an inside joke that absolutely infuriates most of the SECr. The lower the IQ, the more it irritates the rantards.

Hang around a little longer. You'll see.

And their "good coach" is a miserable arrogant SOB.

Saban is arrogant, but at least he's done something. Even his NFL failure was not nearly as bad as Petrino's epic failure.
