Again, thanks for presenting the "facts" to all us naive Tiger fans.

I am just saying all of this "he is a man of character blah blah blah" stuff is nonsense. It was about $$ for him the entire time. He is no different than any coach out there that has done the same thing.

Scoop,
You simply have a far to simplistic view of this situation. No one says the money doesn't matter, but when dealing with the amount of money and the differences in pay, it really isn't about the money. Miles is in a fortunate situation that most people would like to be in -- he can think about quality of life, relationships, and family, knowing that he going to have more than enough money either way. If it were about the money, he would likely have asked for a big pay raise to stay, rather than a few more years on the contract with no raise.

I think he was at least open to the Michigan possbility, but on reflection, it just wasn't the right move, and it wasn't just because of money. Some people actually are motivated by other things than just money. I think from everthing we have seen about Miles over the years, it is safe to conclude that he is one of those. Money matters, surely, but I don't think it was the major factor in this case. There really any good reason to think it was.

If none of those things matter why speak to Michigan AGAIN? Michigan gave him bargaining leverage and he took it. Coaches have been doing this kind of thing for years and he did it as well. I don't believe he was SERIOUSLY interested in taking the Michigan job.

Because he still has great love and respect for Michigan, and again, things could change from the first time he talked to them. I think he was always inclined to stay at LSU, but one never knows what the opportunities are unless one explores them. Michigan is probably the only college job that Miles would ever leave LSU for on his own terms. Even in his ESPN interview, when asked about whether he could still see himself at Michigan, he said "never say 'never.'"

Certainly coaches use other job opportunities as leverage, but it isn't always just that simple or so singly focused. That is what you are missing. People, even football coaches, are complex individuals with conflicting desires and interests. And again, while he was inclined to stay at LSU, I do think he seriously considered his options with Michigan and felt that he ought to give it consideration. That is what he indicated, and I don't have any reason to doubt him. It makes perfect sense and fits the experience of a lot of people who have seriously looked at other opportunties and decided to stay where they are.

you keep making things up. man, you seem really bothered that many LSU fans, who are much closer to the situation see it differently than you. you don't understand and you continue to dig your hole deeper and deeper. believe me, i completely know about leverage. but to say that that was the only reason these events transpired and to state that miles selected this year to do it because he had a successful year is pure unadultrated bull shite. i guess miles had to have RR fired first so he could pull his leverage scheme. dude, if you all it was was what you say, miles would have come out of this with a raise.

some people are so shallow, they think money is everything. I couldn't be happier and i sure as hell don't have alot of money.

And fyi, he was offered more money to go to michigan then he made here, and i am quite sure he could of got more per year out of lsu easily.

The man enjoys what he does and where he is at. I know that is so hard to believe coming from some of you

that's right, you don't understand. you don't understand a lot of things. miles is a sincere guy and you don't understand that. miles loves LSU and you don't understand that. miles respects and loves his alma matar and owed them consideration and you don't understand that. miles is a family man and considering them in making his decision and you don't understand that. miles loves his players and they love him and you don't understand that. it appears to me that you are just a stupid shite that doesnt understand shite so you attempt to discount our coach and his love of LSU. why don't you go and not understand elsewhere.
