Unless I’m misreading this, you’re keeping 3 perm & rotating everybody else.
Only difference in opponent #3 on the left side is later on on the right side.

It's a 3-6 schedule.. but the LEFT and RIGHT grouping of the teams allowed for all of the schedules to balance out.

Year 1/2 Schedule
AL, AUB, FL, KY, LSU, A&M, MIZ, ARK all play each other (7 common)
TN, V, GA, SC, OM, MS, TX, OU all play each other (7 common)

The only difference comes in the permanent crossover games (2 each)
ie Alabama vs Tennessee/Miss State, Auburn vs Georgia/Vandy, etc.

Year 3/4 Schedule
AL, AUB, FL, KY, LSU, A&M, MIZ, ARK
all play the teams below (8 common for both groups)
TN, V, GA, SC, OM, MS, TX, OU

The only difference comes in the permanent game on the same side (1 each)
ie Alabama vs Auburn, Florida vs Kentucky, LSU vs A&M, Mizzou vs Arkansas (on one side)
ie Tennessee vs Vandy, Georgia vs SC, Ole Miss vs Miss State, Texas vs OU (on one side)

TLDR: It's a 3/6 model with balanced scheduling, but you can still get much easier schedules going this route.. but that isn't much difference between EAST and WEST Divisions if one was a lot stronger that year.

I’m still not getting it.
I understand playing the other group part, but you’re still playing THE SAME 3 each year.
Y1 - 3 perm + Group of 6 A
Y2 - Y1 sites flipped
Y3 - 3 perm + Group of 6 B
Y4 - Y3 sites flipped

The two schools hadn’t played each other since 2011 and neither cared. The current generation of college kids and recent grads don’t have memories of that rivalry or really care about it.

yes, the schedule you laid out is true for all 3/6 models.. that part is easy..

the balanced schedule combined with the 3/6 was the goal of my post.. to create two "divisions" for scheduling purposes.. LEFT and RIGHT..

It isn't easy to put 1 permanent rival on one side of the bracket.. and 2 on the other side of the bracket.. while making sure all important rivalry games get played..

The way I presented it is good.. but it's not perfect.

LSU for example.. they would probably rather have FL as a permanent instead of OU.. they would also prefer to have Arkansas instead of Oklahoma.. Other than that game, I think everything else is captured.

Will it make everyone happy? Absolutely not. Some people want more than 3 permanent games.. but I don't see it happening..

You clearly didn't see the A&M ticket pull this past weekend.

Well, it's pretty obvious that Alabama won't play UTK every year.

We won't be playing Auburn every year.

Georgia and Tennessee won't play every year, though that yearly rivalry was created due to expansion and divisions.

Georgia has already sacrificed the SC rivalry, which was pretty close to annual when they were an independent.

LSU Florida would be gone.

LSU Bama, Ole Miss and Auburn.

Red River Rivalry would be biannual.

Going to every other year is not the worst thing in the world. Use to be if you didn't play them annually, you could go almost a decade without playing a team.

I've not heard of that.

Well, in a way, I've said that with my schedule plan.

4 pods of 4 teams. You play the 3 teams in your pod, 1 perm in each of the other 3 pods, then the remaining teams in the paired pod.

1A/1B/1C/1D
2A/2B/2C/2D
3A/3B/3C/3D
4A/4B/4C/4D

ex. for team 1A
Y1 - 1B, 1C, 1D, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 3A, 4A
Y2 - 1B, 1C, 1D, 2A, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 4A
Y3 - 1B, 1C, 1D, 2A, 3A, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D
Y4/5/6 - Y1/Y2/Y3 sited flipped
podmates: 1B, 1C, 1D
cross pod perms: 2A, 3A, 4A

SECCG teams
Y1 - AB winner vrs. CD winner
Y2 - AC winner vrs. CD winner
Y3 - AD winner vrs. BC winner

This allows must play games to be kept since pods can't hold everybody.
Allows everybody to play everybody.
Automatically determines SECCG teams like divs. did.

If this happens they all need to go away and rotate schedule every year. You can’t keep some rivalries and do away with others. Just lose them all together as an annual event
That won't work, but if we can only hang on to one permanent it has to be BloU in Dallas.
