Even had it been allowed, it still means that Ohio State's offense only scored one touchdown in the second half. In addition, as it concerns blaming the punt return not counting as a reason to lose the game, Ohio State led before the final Clemson drive and Ohio State had their chance to win but due to lack of execution on a simple pass play failed to score. Giving up that game-winning drive and failing to complete that possible game-winning pass is all the fault of Ohio State, not the officials. When it counted, your defense couldn't stop Clemson from scoring the go-ahead touchdown and your offense failed to score the game-winning touchdown. Complete failure for a "complete" team.
