I was perusing an SEC-related list and immediately noticed an outlier...

SEC Marching Bands

Alabama: "Million Dollar Band"
Arkansas: "The Best in Sight and Sound"
Auburn: Auburn University Marching Band
Florida: "The Pride of the Sunshine"
Georgia: Georgia "Redcoat" Marching Band
Kentucky: Wildcat Marching Band
L. S. U. : "The Golden Band from Tigerland"
Mississippi State: Famous Maroon Band
Missouri: The Big 'M' of the Midwest
Ole Miss: "The Pride of the South"
South Carolina: "Mighty Sound of the Southeast"
Tennessee: "Pride of the Southland Band"
aTm: Fightin' Texas Aggie Band
Vanderbilt: "Spirit of Gold Marching Band"

I think that settles it. If Missouri University self-identifies as being midwestern, how can their fans argue with it?

I conclude this post with the US census bureau definition of the Midwest for statistical purposes:

You are so obsessed with Mizzou, it's pathetic.

Really grasping at straws now, aren't you?

What does a Midwestern band play? Polka tunes?

Nope, but I'm not shitting you when I say they play some northern tune called "Missouri Waltz".

LINK
You are a fricking idiot, Porker.
That's Missouri's state song, and identifies Missouri with the South.

GTFO Porker. Missouri is a good addition to the SEC from my perspective.

I guess that's not as northern as playing Battle Hymn

Glad you grabbed your state song from an Arkansan. Proof that the Natural State is also considerably more cultured in terms of art/music than MO. Our state song was actually written by an Arkansan. You might call him a "true son"

And after you're done listing to Johnny Cash's version, google the original lyrics to the Missouri Waltz and come up with something else. Songs about darkies and pick-a-ninnies are generally tied to the South.

Johnny Cash didn't write the song, he just did a nice cover...

You're the one that posted the link to the Johnny Cash version

ETA: It must be a personal favorite of yours. Many enjoy the crooning of the Dyess, Arkansas native

Actually the MU band is known as "Marching Mizzou". They do indeed play the Missouri Waltz, plus "Old Missouri", "Every True Son", "Fight Tiger", "Eye of the Tiger", "Hey Baby", "Tiger Rag", and more.

And we don't care if you think we belong in the SEC.

It's always been Marching Mizzou. The only time I've ever heard Big M is in reference to a formation they make when they perform the Missouri Waltz.

I've been to St. Louis.

I've gone to The Hill.

The best Italian food I've ever had.

I'm All-In for Mizzou.
