Some of you are looking at this all wrong. If LSU fan was going to go with an Alabama coach to return, it should be Mike Shula. Mike Dubose was 2-2 against LSU. Mike Shula was 0-4.
Dubose coached against DiNardo. Shula coached against Saban and Miles. Not a fair comparison. If Shula had faced the LSU of the 90s he would have done better than 0-4. If Dubose had faced the LSU of the mid 2000s he would have done worse than 2-2.
ETA: Not to mention that Dubose was a fricking embarrassment and Shula is a great person who is an excellent representative of his university.

But it was under Dubose's watch that eventually got us Mike Shula,I think that's his point...

Not really. You're just blinded by your homerism. Shula would have worked, you're correct there. Dubose works just as well. In fact, probably better, as Shula never embarrassed us off the field or went 3-8 after being preseason #3 in a season. I doubt the OP really thought about it that much, he's just making the point that he misses the days before Saban got here and we started kicking arse again. I have no idea why you've picked this fight. Dubose was turrible.

I miss Mike Price. Not because my team ever played against him or anything, just because

My reasons are personal. I'll leave it at that.

Oh he's your buddy. Fair enough. The rest of the world agrees he was a failure.

You seem so angry about my views on the Mike Dubose era.

Other than 99 it was a disaster,he never beat Tennessee and we were a hair away from the death penalty under his watch,he can kiss my arse...

I'm not angry at all. It just seemed odd that you would start splitting hairs over a really obvious thread like this one. It still does.

My initial impressions of this thread were relative to recruiting, considering the theme of the day. I questioned the OP's thoughts solely on that. Mike Dubose recruited well (though I'm mindful recruiting violations happened under his watch). Mike Shula, on the other hand, did not (though the sanctions played a major role in that). I was then attacked for my impressions of Mike Dubose.

Just be patient Lil Nicky will run his course in the next 2-3 years and then the new "Mike Dubose, Ron Zook or Mike Shula" will return. The meltdown in Gumpland will be epic and all the more enjoyable. No good coach ever wants to follow the "legend" i.e. Ron Zook

You weren't attacked at all. But every bama fan on the board can't help but lol at your lack of objectivity if a rival fan starts a thread saying they miss dubose and you respond with, "why?" You're all by yourself on this one.

Dubose only had one solid recruiting class and that was in 1999 when we finished 6th overall. Other than '99 he was a complete failure both on and off the field. He even admitted to Cecil Hurt that the '99 season was more to do with the leadership of Shaun Alexander, Cornelius Griffin, and Chris Sameuls than it was his coaching.

The 1998, 1999, and 2000 classes were all top 5/10 type classes, though the rankings were a bit different then. Again, I say he could coach and recruit, but his leadership skills killed morale and helped relationships within the coaching staff fester.

Look bro, I dont care what personal connection you have with Dubose. If you cant see that he was one of, if not THE worst coach Alabama has had since Ears Whitworth then you really need to just log out and forget your password. Shula was an even better coach than Dubose, at least he had the benefit of blaming his lack of success on the worst NCAA sanctions (because of Dubose) since SMU at the time (USC is the leader in the clubhouse now soon to be replaced by Miami).
I really dont see how you can even argue that there has been a worse coach than him in the last half century.
