but it is surreal to think that the highest paid player in the NFL is going to be a Mississippi State product.

And he's a quarterback.

Before Dak, a State quarterback had taken snaps in one game (1978) in the NFL.

Dallas overspending for mediocrity sums up their organization. Dak will never lead Dallas to a SB

Whoever Dak's agent is could sell ice to an Eskimo. Holy shite. Dak is solid but not worth that kind of money

Who's their sure-fire better option tho? There isn't one. That's why Dak's agent has Dallas by the balls.

Joe Reed played in 50 games and had 19 starts for SF and Detroit.

By overpaying for qb, rb, and wr, Dallas has mortgaged their future for a season that may not even happen. If it does, they won't go far. Makes me happy as i hate the Cowboys.

If Dallas had leveraged for a good draft position, there's at least 3-4 that could end up being better than him - if Dallas were willing to roll the dice on a rookie.

Couldn't be worse than what they're spending on Dak though.

"Not worth it" is an argument made by people who don't know what they're talking about.

Dak is worth what he gets paid. It doesn't mean he's a top 5 QB, it just means that the market is very hot right now and Dallas only had a year before he hit the open market with no loyalty to Dallas due to the way this contract negotiation has played out.

If anything, Jones f***ed himself by letting this go on as long as it has. He would have saved money by just wrapping this up a long time ago.

Dak's good enough that, with the right surrounding team and a good coach, he can have Dallas performing well. This saves Dallas from having to blow draft picks year-after-year hunting QBs who end up being busts. They now have bought time to search for their next big QB while still being able to build a good team.

All-star QBs can win championships in college ball. In NFL, you have to have high performers across all positions, and having a decent enough QB allows you to focus on building that. This is why Joe Burrow will fail at the Bengals. Doesn't matter how good he is if he never has a pocket and has no open receivers to throw the ball too.

Congrats, you've summed up just about every starting QB in the league.

Take a look at the team who just just won the Super Bowl. Now look at the team that just lost the Super Bowl. Which one best fits your description?

This ain't 1990 anymore where you can hide a mediocre QB. In today's game, you NEED a stud at that spot. A great QB elevates the play of everyone else on the offense (and indirectly, defense) and is the only player on the entire team who can do that. THAT'S why they make the big bucks.

I actually like Dak more than most, but he ain't that guy. But like someone said, his agent has Jerrah by the balls because there's no chance of Dallas realistically getting anyone better.
