We will miss Matt Wells more than McKinney this year.

Redmond didn't start yet he would have been a top 5 corner THIS year.

Mississippi State junior CB Will Redmond "was certainly among the top five corners in this draft going into the draft process," wrote ESPN's Mel Kiper.
Redmond, of course, elected to return to school for his last season of eligibility. Had he entered, Redmond probably would have been no worse than a second-rounder, and may have snuck into latter stages of Round 1 in a weak CB class. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported last month that Redmond could have been the second CB drafted if he had declared early. "I'd say late first or second round," an NFL scout said in the article. "He will be more of an off corner. I think he will run in the 4.3s."

Why do yall dwell on past players that will have no affect on your shitty team this year

i understand what you think.
You are wrong though.
LSU fans think this every year when we get ravaged by the draft, and you know what? losing starters and major contributors ALWAYS hurts.

ok it may be true in some cases, but not in every case
you aren't gonna get better losing You leader in tackles and your leader in sacks.
You aren't going to get better losing 3 of our top 5 defensive linemen, or 2 of your top 4 linebackers.
You aren't gonna get better losing 3/5 offensive linemen or a 1000 yard rusher.

We return 5 of our top 7 tacklers. McKinney had 20 more tackles than his replacement.
Our starting RB's end up in the NFL. Robinson's replacement will be no different.
We replace guys on the OL with veterans. One of them has already made 2 SEC starts.
We won't be better every position that graduated- but we will at most. Hell, between Prescott, Redmond, and Jones- we could end up with 3 1st rounders

That would give the landmass almost a quarter of the first round.

Kimchee isn't first round. Super overrated. All recruiting hype. Tunsil is a big softie. Paidwell is too injured to be a first rounder.

Isn't Connor in a gang, also? I've seen him make tackles and put an outstretched hand on his forehand in a vertical, outward position. Clearly a gang symbol. That's why State passed on him.

Is this the same leader in sacks who wasn't even anyone anyone radar this time a year ago?
The same OL that was only ranked 7th in the SEC this time last year?
The same RB that was from the 11th ranked RB group this time last year?

You people can't have it the same way. Last year, we were overlooked because we didn't have the talent, coaching, etc. We went on to have a great year.
Now that those players have left, now all of a sudden they are great players and State won't be able to have the same success because we lost so much talent and can't replace them. But just a year ago, people were trying to tell us how we don't' have any talent. Now that they have graduated, we lost so much talent.
So was everyone wrong last year and all our players ended up being better than expected? Or are you right this year, and we won't be able to replace them and we just have scrubs? Can't have it both ways.
So sorry if State fans aren't buying into the "State has no talent" line. But I'm not sure why we expect anything else.

Miss St brought back more starters than any team in the SEC last year
This year you bring back the fewest.
If you include redmond and Jones as starters you still only bring back the second fewest.
You lost multi year starters at a ton of positions. and went from being the most experienced to one of the least in the SEC.

So is this the first football season in history that recruiting stars matter to Mississippi State fans? Because most years y'all are the ones telling us how that doesn't matter, but this season you're saying that State is going to be better than last because you're replacing all the starters and experience you're losing with players that had more recruiting stars out of HS?
Posted on 4/28/15 at 5:40 pm to BowlJackson
Well, Mullen whipped your arse with 2-stars in 2014- just wait and see what he does with 3 and 4-star guys

That's what we keep trying to explain tho- ya'll claim we lost all this talent and experience:
We return 5 of our top 7 tacklers
We return 6 of our top 7 WR's
RB is easiest position to replace on offense
All of our offensive linemen are 3rd year or better
We won't be inexperienced

Here is a snap count from our Auburn game. So out of the "starters" (the first 11 listed):
Brown - returning
Jones - being replaced by Chris Jones, who had more snap
Eulls - being replaced by Nick James, a 5th year senior
Smith - AJ Jefferson, played 30 snaps vs Auburn.
Wells - not sure who is going to take his spot, probably Gerri Green, a 4* RS FR.
BMac - Richie Brown
B. Brown - returning
Love - Redmond - stud
Hughes - Coman, look at snaps, 28 vs. 32
Cox - Market, look at snaps, 40 vs 32
Calhoun - returns
Only real questions, where we are counting on someone who hasn't played much is replacing Wells.
