No, it's a good topic. I just thought about Brandon Jacobs once being on that roster and just wanted to through a lil' debate in there. It's all good.

Don't remind us.
4-4 with those guys in 2008. And we were leading every game in the 4th quarter

He's a good running back no doubt, but he put up those stats because you didn't give the ball to anyone else in the backfield.
A 5'7", 170 lbs running back that averages over 5 YPC and 100 YPG is good, no matter how you shake it. The fact that he had all those carries and continued playing through minor injuries (until his hamstring tear) only bolsters the argument that Michael Smith is an excellent RB.
Granted, he does have one glaring weakness, which is in short yardage situations. Nevertheless, he is a very, very good running back.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jacobs and Irons were never on the team at the same time.
Even if they were all on the team simultaneously, they didn't come close to the production of Arkansas's four RBs.

That's a nasty depth chart that will probably never be matched at 4 deep again, at any school.
Unless of course it's done again at Arkansas.
Michael Smith
Broderick Green
D'Anthony Curtis
Knile Davis
Ronnie Wingo Jr
Dennis Johnson
That is some high flying potential there.
I would also have to in all fairness say SoCal's current depth chart has some serious potential to, they are frickin loaded.

Kenny Irons?
2435 career yards, good career.
1627 rushing yards entering into his sr season. Will he get 800 yards? I suspect he won't. So i have to give the nod to Irons on that one.
BUT
Felix Jones
2954 rushing yards
383 receiving yards
1744 return yards
_____
5081 AP yards
Ronnie Brown
2707 rushing yards
668 receiving yards
___________
3375 AP yards
Ronnie had 66.4% of Felix's production, how can you say Brown > Felix? Felix 1.5X > Brown

On Felix Jones:
Felix is 13 carries shy of the 400 carry minimum to be listed in the SEC Career YPC category.
Had he managed his average over those 13 carries he would be the SEC All-Time Leader by a FULL YARD, 7.6, over Bo Jackson's 6.6 YPC.
In SEC Season YPC he meets the minimum carry requirement and is at the top of the list at 8.74 YPC on 133 touches.
His almost 5,100 APY and 7.6 YPC damn near makes our 2nd best back better than "Running Back U's" #1.

I almost wish he wasn our number 1 back, if it would have meant that DMac had played safety for us. Sure DMac was fun to watch in the WildwhateverNuttcallsitthisweek, but we may have won an SEC and national title in 06 if we had A)More balance in the offense caused by not having two great RB we were trying to feed the ball and B) A super fast, super smooth head hunting FS on defense.
If only is a fun game to play.

I didn't realize that the RB could dictate things like oh defense, and once Nutt let us get behind by 3 TD even our great RB corp couldn't save us against SoCal.
