I give Geno A. credit for apologizing. I wondered if he would. A terrible example of how

to handle a tough loss. A good example of how to handle a mistake.

quote:

"There's no excuse for how I handled the end of the game vs. South Carolina," Auriemma said in a statement issued through the school. "It's unlike what I do and what our standard is here at Connecticut. I want to apologize to the staff and the team at South Carolina. It was uncalled for in how I reacted. The story should be how well South Carolina played, and I don't want my actions to detract from that. I've had a great relationship with their staff, and I sincerely want to apologize to them."

No matter. He didn't have to do it at all. If South Carolina wants to act like an arse in return to his acting like an arse on Friday. that's their prerogative.

Did Staley ever apologize to BYU for being wrong?

Well ... the apology might mean something had he not been forced to do it because fans and recruits were bailing on him.

Furthermore, he pulled the same shite with Pat Head Summit nearly every time she knocked him out of the tournament ... I know he was forced to apologize twice.

Pat Summit hated that sunuvabitch as do most UT fans old enough to remember his antics.

Geno is worse than a sore loser. He's a whiney crybaby prima donna POS.

Dawn is handling it as she should ... by ignoring the bullshite and focusing on the game.

She's doing what winners do. She's not letting the distractions keep her team and her from achieving their goal.

Geno made three claims, publicly, because his team was being waxed:

1 - He claimed they did not shake hands before the game. Cameras later proved that they did ... so he lied. And then he said, "well it wasn't at half court ... which is traditional."

2 - He claimed Sarah Strong's jersey was torn during a foul by a Gamecock player. Cameras proved that, not only was there no foul but, Sarah Strong tore her own jersey. She later claimed she did it "by accident."

3 - He claimed that Dawn Staley was screaming obscenities at the refs ... two women and a male. All three have come out and said that did not happen.

Geno is full of shite and the apology is worthless. The school issued that apology because UConn fans and alumni blew up on him on X and the UConn boards, and because two big name recruits cancelled their visits to Storrs this morning, and because one of his biggest recruits that was supposed to enroll at UConn this summer has reached out to SC, LSU and Texas to see if they have roster spots and NIL openings remaining on their roster for next season.

Geno has said twice, in the past 24 hours, that he is thinking about retiring. Insiders on the UConn boards are saying he was planning on retiring after this season anyway because he thought he would finish with another undefeated season and national championship.

SC and UConn are already scheduled to meet again, on Thanksgiving weekend, on ABC this coming November. In some tournament.
