Hypothetical about your team over the next 5 years (which would you rather)

Choose one of these options

option 1) Your team will be slightly above average over the next 5 years, will make a bowl each year but barely. They will have three 6 win regular seasons and a couple of years with 7 or 8 wins.

Option 2) Your team will be in the race for the conference and National title in at least two of the next 5 seasons and will win a minimum of 10 games in those seasons. After those 5 seasons are over however, there is a 60% chance that a scandal involving your school will be uncovered. In the fallout of this scandal, your coach will be fired, and your team will lose enough scholarships to render your team ineffective and below average for at least the following 5 years.

Why can't we have the option of being a national contender almost every year and run a clean program like lsu does.

I'm not sure this is even a valid dilemma. Option 2, easily. Since you make no mention of games being vacated during the successful seasons, I assume that means the scandal doesn't reflect on those. In which case, I'd think most people would take a string of legitimate 10 win seasons with an equal amount of downtime in their wake. It's not like football will stop after the sanctions. You still get to go watch the games and if you lose more than usual, well, you'd be losing 4-5 games every year if you took option 1. At least with option 2, you have an excuse besides "We suck as a program."

Been there done that in both scenarios, and both truly suck. Why I just take it game by game nowadays. Not getting my hopes up. Wishing for good games to watch. Hate blowouts even if it's my team is doing the blowing...

Everyone laughed when we said "worth it" yesterday. But an alabama fan lays it out for you and everyone seems to agree.
