Great link! I looked back to the '88-89 season to look up a game (it was Texas Southern in L.R.) I remember sitting directly behind the Arkansas bench during that game and seeing Oliver Miller in street clothes. He must have had a broken hand or finger because it was bandaged but he made "piggie remarks" to opposing players the entire game. It was the first time I remember seeing him, instantly knowing we had a real character on our hands.

May have been more than 600 lbs. I'm thinking the "O's" weight was classified.

Shaq was pretty 'lean' back then. Probably 260 lbs. He was a freak.

"O" was also a freak but wasn't lean.

Nolan vs Dale was good times. My mom picked up season tickets in '88, so at 8 years old I was watching Jackson/Shaq. fricking awesome man.
She also picked up baseball season tickets in '89. Got to see Walker in his prime as a kid.
Miss those days at the Box.

That is awesome!

I know he wasn't always popular with some LSU fans but I always liked Dale Brown.

They are young who caught the tale end of his career. Dude made LSU bball other than the Pistol. He is the 2nd winningest coach in the SEC behind Adoulf Rupp. Enough said.

I agree. Dale Brown had a lot of class. I remember him well. ...and Pistol Pete was a phenomenon!

What has caused the slow death of SEC Basketball has been the loss of coaches like Brown, Pitino, Richardson and Sanderson and not being able to replace them when they left.

You got that right! It's just not the same.

Agree 100%. The SEC was stacked with coaches in the early 90's. Ive seen some bama fans dog Wimp, which is crazy to me. He was a SOB, and his teams were good. Dale hated him

Wimp was the one everyone loved to hate. It was pure entertainment. Hell, I'd go out of my way just to watch their games, mainly for his antics...crowd would be insane!
I remember Nolan walking out one time when we got behind after being shafted by some (Texas?) refs and then returning after we tied it up to go in overtime. Said he had to use the bathroom!

I hated him with a passion. I learned to hate Richardson and his 40 minutes of fouls just as much.

The Golden era of coaches in the league.

Nolan had his antics. I loved those days ...Nolan referring to Texas' coach as "Sweet Tom" (I think that was the term). He knew how to rattle Tom Penders.

Day put up 40 against LSU @ LSU; he also got jobbed out of a last second winning shot @ Alabama, in one of the epic battles of those teams early in our conference tenure.
I remember that Bama game vividly. Screw job.
Those games against Bama - KY - LSU were epic.

I remember that game. Shaq was highly touted as the top player in the country. Big O gave him problems because he could match up size wise. Really good game.

I don't remember Shaq and Big O getting into it but I do remember Todd Day scoring 42 points at LSU and "waving" to the crowd after the game.
