When Franklin leaves Vandy will be shitty again
Depends on who they hire. I think Franklin could be there anywhere b/w 1 to 30 years, seriously. I'm sure certain lengths of time are more likely than others.
Just for the sake of argument, and consistent with things he has said about his own career...let's say he's there another 10 years.
1.) I think with the recruits/coaches/program attitude he's building, he could be an 8+ win plus team consistently over that time frame. So that's about average for the SEC, but he pulled them out of the gutter.
2.) The SEC and Vandy are getting $mulit-millions$ more and "the rich get richer." The gap b/w the other conferences and the SEC continues to grow and SEC coaches are paid on avg substantially higher than other conferences' coaches.
3.) WIth the "winning" program now at Vandy, excitement builds from boosters, market exposure increases, and value/perception increases.
So now, here we are 10 years later, Vandy went from last in the SEC to a middle tier team that's well funded, has moderate+ national respect, recruiting well, and can offer a top level education. There will be plenty of coaches in other conferences who would want that job. They pay will probably be higher, games will be against the best competition, there is already some structure/stability to the program, Nashvegas is a fun place to live, etc....
In summary, I think Franklin is more of a program building coach than people give him credit for. If he does the things above, he can make it a pretty nice job for the next guy.

Kentucky will have a better 5 year run than Tennessee. Fact.
meh, that's a stretch. You've guys beat them once since the movie Back to the Future was in Theaters. I'm not saying Tenn will be good, but you guys have just as many problems and with less talent.

probably not, but Richt is going to go on a slide that leads to his firing. During that slide, Vandy will = Ga at one point
Wasn't he on a slide in 2008?

Gamecock fans are something else. Other than the last two years, they have not been a success story. They have never won the SEC, much less a national title. They have a losing record against all SEC schools except for KY and Vandy. They are not even a charter SEC school. But somehow they want us to salute their greatness. At least Vandy fans know when to keep quiet.

This is just false. You should be able to wiki it to see we've had ups and downs like most teams. In the 80's, we had a really good squad, the 90's sucked, but since 2000 we started doing better.

That's true, but it doesn't mean that we just give up and don't try.

Maybe, but everything's relative. We're 14-2 against the SECe the past 3 years. That's the best record out of the east for that time frame.

Do you want us to not be proud of the success we are having? Does that really make sense to you? It's a sports forum, fans from everywhere come here to engage in conversation about their team and others...DWI.

That mentality is similar to someone who is being forced to do something they don't like or has been beaten down to believe they are inferior. I hope Franklin and some success can fix that for you and anyone in your fanbase who feels the same way.

I understand recent USCe pride, who would not be proud given your accomplishments this year? You have my compliments. But being proud of your team is one thing, starting to rank yourself on top the next five years at the expense of everyone else is arrogance. It would be more appropriate to speak in terms of how well your prospects look, without demoting all the other teams to accomplish that end.

Spurrier is one of the oldest coaches in football. He may be the oldest when KSU coach retires.
He wont coach much longer. But USC will never pass UGA or UF for an extended time....say a decade or longer.

Hmm, don't see how coming off a 2-10 season with far less talent can give you confidence that UK can pull off what they've never have before...and that's having a better 5 year run than UT. Tenn will suck, but you will still be you...and that's worse than anything UT has ever been.

Yes, it might be arrogant, but that doesn't make it wrong either.
Over the past 3 years, USC has finished 1,2, or 3 in the East. We haven't been more than a game away from winning it over that span. We've won 14 of the 16 SECe games, which leads the division. We are recruiting well, and obviously we have good coaches.
Some of us might be arrogant, but what did you expect, we're a bunch of Cocks!
