Tiger Jeff I'm sorry for the news I didn't know you had cancer.

I didnt read it as "he had cancer." I read it as he thinks what he does is much more important than what the rest of us do.

If I am wrong and Tiger Jeff you do have cancer, I am sorry and best of luck.

The 1970's integration of blacks in southern football.

Hate to tell you but Kentucky had the first in 1967 and Tennessee had two that made All-SEC in 1969.

Get real Pigg. I wasnt going to Harvard or Yale and I wasnt going to JP Tech either. Nothing wrong with either if your making an honest living, but I knew I was going to attend an SEC school in the South and get a common degree that wouldnt matter if it said UGa or MIT. I also knew that I wasnt concerned about making the deans list every semester either. I wanted to go to school and get a degree and have a good 4 or 5 years along the way. Something I did and I have to say '92 was a damn fun year. You cant sit there and say that having a good football team at your school doesnt contribute to some great college memories so dont act all high and mighty about how to choose your college. If you plan on being a rockit scientist maybe, but for the rest of us Joe Publics just stop it.

I knew i too would go to a school in the south...i wasn't based on the football team though. You'll forgive me for finding this odd. We did things differently. I expect your view of the way I did it paints me as the odd one.

You have to start with the 1926 Rose Bowl. We legitimized southern football with that game.

This^^^^^

We weren't the change for blacks in the SEC. I think that was KY. CPB had to change old AL southern opinions first. Hence, USC game and Sam "Bam" Cunningham.

We did change the voting periods for the AP to after the bowls in 1964. And the UPI for after the bowls in 1973.

I think Paul Bryant (CPB) was instrumental in making the Sugar Bowl rival the Rose Bowl by putting the SEC winner in it.

I also think the NCAA limited scholly because of Bama. How about the Saban rule, where HC can't recruit on campus like they used to.

The 92 SECCG was Roy Kramer. We just happened to be there.

frick that cocksucking piece of shite.

I'm glad he came up with the whole SEECG thing, but seriously, I hope he dies in an aids infested fire with battery acid dripping on his nutsack and fire ants in his arse.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Bryant. But as many times as the SEC had a team in the Sugar, there was no tie-in until 1975. The Orange by and large was deemed a better bowl than the Sugar because NBC paid the Orange Bowl more money than ABC paid the Sugar Bowl.

False. Bryant already had the first black Bama player on the roster when that game was played. he watched from the stands, as freshman weren't eligible at that time.

I think you are both right.

True

True

And even though Bryant had already recruited and signed black players, he used the USC game to make it easier the next couple of years for those players to be accepted as part of the team. A lot of that had to do with changing southern opinions.

I've read the answer before, probably in one of your blog posts or epic SEC history threads, but can't recall it.

I defer to you, Professor
