I would just add that the 12 teams invited now will change the narrative somewhat. So will NIL and the magic portal. Just pulling out the same measuring tape to let history decide this just won't be as accurate.

The teams who have won a NC in the 21st century: Miami, Ohio State, LSU, SoCal, Texass, Florida, Bama, Auburn, Fla State, Clemson, MIchigan.

Apparently the "Blue Chip Ratio" has proven to be very accurate as a starting point to determine who has (at least) a chance to win. Your blue chip (4 and 5 stars) over your total number of recruits has to be over %50 for the 4 preceding years to have a chance. Meeting this criterion doesn't mean you'll win it all but not meeting it means you have no chance.
