Even though it was won on the field in a designated championship game everyone agreed to?

According to WildTchoupitoulas, only 3 college teams in division 1 have won the national championship - Ohio State Bama, & Clemson.

LSU in their 123 year history have never won the national championship, & neither has any other team except the big 3.

So that means Clemson has the real Death Valley since they've done something LSU hasn't.

Alabama has played for or been in the tournament to play for 100% of all national championships, has played in the game for 66% and has won 33% of them.

Wow, we're more impressive than I thought.

No doubt they've won more than anyone else and deserve credit for that but what is the real number?

The only ones that really matter are the ones post 1990. Anything before that is all bullshite "who gives a frick" titles. It wasn't until then that college football became the "money maker" it is today and thus started to be taken very seriously by a majority of schools.

I know this will step on the toes of many Bama fans but it's the truth. Prior to that time, Bama was one of the few schools who sunk major money into the football program. If you are one of the few schools who put money into a sport, it's only natural that you would be better at it than a school who treats that sport as an afterthought activity.

So you're saying that the '95 Nebraska and '01 Miami teams aren't worthy being champions either? Some idiot you are.

Why? We've won 5 since 1990. That's the most, too.

Alabama - 5
Florida - 3
FSU - 3
USC - 2
Nebraska - 2
Miami - 2
LSU - 2
Ohio St - 2

I'm saying they didn't win national championships. Organizations awarded them championships, which they acknowledge, but which were not won.

Guys, the only titles that count are the ones in the 1980s and from 1995 to 2007. It's science.

This is why the majority of people on this board think you're an idiot. Let's ignore 90+ years of the sport because it's convenient to do so.

The real question is: "How many national titles has Bama really lost?"

The answer is of course zero.

The original fake news item in America was when Alabama's national title count jumped dramatically one year in their own media guide.

The next fake news item was when Florida State declared that their institution was started when Andrew Jackson established a school for native Americans near Tallahassee and they declared themselves the oldest university in the South as a result, angering the Georgia governor at the time.

Both true stories.

I would say all of the undefeated teams before 1950 or so might deserve recognition of some sort.

I have no issue with claims of championships ranked by outside sources.

They might have 20, but certainly 1961,1979, 1992, 2009, 2012 and 2014 are undisputed.

The 1966 team should of won it.
The 1977 team was really good.

Bottom line: Bama has a rich history of football. They have won multiple championships over several decades. They claim 1941 which is ridiculous, but they certainly lead this conference and the nation in titles thus far.

Those were Bowl Alliance and BCS though.

Why not 1964, 1965, 1973, and 1978? There isn't a single program out there who ignores an AP or Coaches' Poll selection.

Yeah, the same thing that happened to Auburn in 1983 happened to them.

A shitload. Claim a couple we shouldn't while not claiming a couple we should. Evens out.
