Someone managed to convince LSU fans on here that they have near infinite money.

Ole Miss has never finished worse than 4th in the portal rankings. We're #2 in the 247 rankings which only ranks net new additions.

So congrats to lsu for grabbing some big time names out of the portal, but that's not the end all-be all of this game (like who's gonna play oline??)
We currently have 13 on the roster and a couple more visiting this week. The coaches get paid to figure that out but thanks for your concern.

Here's the difference between LSU vs Ole Miss in the portal.

As you can see, Ole Miss actually upgraded their roster (at least on paper). First off, the number of players out = the number of players in. Second, the "star power" of their roster was a net increase. (They lost one 4* but gained 3 4*. They lost 16 3*'s but basically replaced them in kind (and upgraded 2 with 4*). Finally, their over all NIL valuation increased while keeping the # of players the same. This is an excellent example of how you improve a roster in the portal.

To be fair, what I don't know is if they were able to replace key losses at positions of need. For example if you lost a bunch of the DL and replaced that will skill players that's not really an improvement.

It was just a rhetorical question, but thanks for the concern..

Well, they seem to be spending it like it’s infinite. Probably $8 M or so just on QBs. Guess we’ll know by this time next near whether they get Cignetti-level results or a bust.

You talking about star power. How about actual on field production. These are not HS players. If you are recruiting the portal primarily for potential instead of production, you are in trouble.

You're 100% right about the bolded part. We won't know until this time next year.

But that's not really what we're talking about. We're talking about how commercial services try to rate schools portal classes. So they have to use some metric for their past performance and predict it forward. Reevaluated * rankings are part of that. So is NIL value at least for On3.

I guess my point here is There are many different ways to measure who's doing well in the portal and this goes beyond the "Star power" you've picke dup. Celebrating it in January is kind of silly, let's all talk NEXT January to see who did well and who didn't... ...

Ole Piss is still shelling out cash to stay relevant.

If / when Golding goes up in flames, so will the grove fund. Nobody is putting in money to a sinking ship.

Ole Miss has multiple sitting starters from other P4 schools in their current portal class.

Honestly, if the online valuations are correct (and we have no way of knowing if they are), they aren't. That's the other school in this pissing match.
