I find OOC play and bowl games more intriguing than conference play. As to how it should influence the rating of a coach...it is a football game. Coaches are supposed to bring the best team/attitude/plan to every football game.

As in not give a shite.
I give a shite about BCS bowls and the NC, obviously. Those are pretty damn important.
Will I be disappointed if we lose the Cotton Bowl? Yes. But, I'd rather lose the Cotton Bowl than any SEC game.
If one believes that ONE game can reflect an entire season, does this apply to 2007 Stanford? 2008 Alabama? Etc., etc.,
One game is one game relative to a season, the only exceptions being championsips.
I'm truly thankful we Tiger fans don't have to feel that way. Being 4-0 in bowls and 20-0 OOC is wonderful.

As a Bama fan, I should feel some greater import delegated to bowl games. shite, we've won more and been in more than anyone else.

Too bad Tiger fans do feel that way, you may be only one who doesn't though... again I reference previous post

I just now saw your thread about the Iowa game. I was there, the worst LSU bowl memory I've ever had, hands down. Even worse than the LSU-Texas bowl game.

Texas is the one bowl game I can say did not effect me. I thought Texas was better team that year, so I guess I expected that ending.

Me, too. I was unclear in my post: the experience sucked because of having to deal with Tex-arse fans.

Our bowl record is pretty fricking awesome since we have the highest winning percentage in the SEC. But we haven't been to nearly as many as some other teams in the SEC, so unless you got a record like State's, it doesn't matter too much.

5-3 Sugar Bowl record which I think is 3rd in all time wins.

LSU fans do also...
See mypost about 04 Iowa game where LSU fans say
"it didn't matter"
"pointless bowl game"
I dont know many people who have said this. In fact, im still a little pissed about the outcome of that game.

Bowl games (except for the national title game) mean less than any one regular season game. Would you rather lose a meaningful game in the regular season that could set you up for a conference or national title or would you rather lose in the Cotton Bowl or the Peach Bowl or any other bowl?

Bowl games can also make your team more money than a regular season game... even though money is disbursed through SEC the winners share is more than the losers.

IMO, CHAMPIONSHIP game record is more important. One game does not a season make, unless you lose and it keeps you out of the BCSNCG...then you get owned by a mid major in your BCS consolation game.

That is completely false. You get money for going to the bowl games, not winning them and you get the same amount win or lose.
