McCarron played out of his mind and put the pass in a perfect spot and the WRs made tremendous catches. It's not like Mathieu was out of position. If you make a perfect throw and catch, it's gonna beat even a 5'10 CB.
Mathieu's coverage is still great, but he will have a hard time over coming his height in the league. But, it's undeniable that he is one of the top Defensive players in NCAA football.

lol okaaay guess BAMA's 2nd and 3rd string WRs were enough to put up 21 points while the defense shut y'all out and held y'all behind the 50yrd line all game..

I actually never liked Maze much, so you won't get a lot of argument from me. I did feel bad for him getting injured in that game though.

Remind me of the awesome play that Mathieu made during the NCG or even back in November?.... I remember him being targeted by BAMA's "high school offense" as a weakness on LSU's defense. I dont remember him making one play on defense or special teams versus Alabama. Theres no question that hes talented. Theres no question that hes fast/quick enough to make plays. However, he failed to make a play vs BAMA in both games. If Im wrong, please prove it to me. People talk about BAMA fans being Homers and what not but damn if you cant admit that Mathieu was exposed during the NCG theres no hope for you.
And LSUTool--look back at the ESPN awards ceremony where Trent Richardson and Mathieu stood side by side. Richardson was listed at 5'11 during his days at BAMA but actually measured at 5'9 at the NFL combine--Matheiu was shorter than Trent by atleast an inch.

If Terrell Suggs played at LSU we would have to hear about how he blows and DT played in an era with more studs. I know the Bama perspective.
How good a player was is directly related to whether they played in Meccaloosa.

Probably 5'7" realistically, and maybe high 4.5's in the forty. Solid, but not spectacular.
