Vanderbilt has a top 20 payroll and went 10-2 last season

This isn’t last years Vandy team. This one is 6-6 at best.

And his point still stands. As we play better competition our numbers will drop. It’s to be expected.

The old guy called them a high school team.

Yeah, no crap. Seems as if that goes without saying.

Referring to any college team as a high school team is downright ignorant.

Correct. Play a better team and the numbers drop.

But play Tennessee where the DC challenges us in man coverage all game and we get 300 yards passing at almost 10 yards per attempt and a QB efficiency rating 177.

Or play GT where they drop 7 and 8 defenders into zone coverage and we check everything down or scramble against a defense with 11 eyes on the QB and we get 3.3 yards per pass attempt for 70 yards and a qb efficiency rating 86.

Or flip it around.
UGA defense plays to take away the run and mix coverages to force throws underneath and not give up anything explosive. QBs are going to hit open receivers against zone coverages until they run out of field.

Then UGA sends 5 at the line of scrimmage with a combination of man and zone coverage with the mantra the pressure makes the defense right.
You are going to see different results based on the offensive skillsets and how the defense approaches the game.

Is GT more talented on the backend than Tennessee?
If OU moves the ball but can't score points, does the yardage mean anything?
