I wanted to add something: We lost 3 games this year because I ate pork ribs right before those games.

Now, obviously I know this isn't true, but what a fricking coincidence.

Stop avoiding responsibility. Had you eaten acorns, we would have won the game.

I do not know how much more Petrino can branch out in recruiting. Unless you are waiting on us to regularly pluck kids from Europe.

Where has Arkansas ranked in recruiting classes since Petrino got there? Don't remember them being top 25 last year. Anyone can pull 2-3 stars from neighboring states. WHile I don't think those rankings hold much water I do believe that they are one of the few measuring sticks that we have.

I think since they have no real recruiting rivals they should be a year in year out threat in the SEC West, ala LSU. Alabama has two teams to spread the wealth to, Mississippi has two teams, Tennessee has two teams. LSU, Arky and Florida really don't have an excuse for not knocking down huge signing classes. That being said, Bama doesn't have to fight for recruits, neither does LSU or Florida. So you really don't have an excuse NOT to dominante in this conference just like LSU, Bama and Florida.

Just a polling of opinions. Are they one of the big boys of the SEC? Do they have what it takes to make and be a threat to all SEC teams year after year (and not just LSU in NOvember)?

Asking because I find many of their fans to be delusional. I think they're more than State and Ole Mrs. Hardly a BCS machine. Maybe I am wrong.

No need to worry about the Hogs. LSU can count on a win every year. After all, LSU has dominated the series for the last several years and we will get worse and worse with Petrino.

WOW. All sorts of answers here. No, I didn't ask the question bc I am afraid of Arkansas. I might be a major LSU sports fan, alum, and it takes a big chunk of my passion, but I can honestly say it's over for me when I "worry" or "get scared" of football teams. This is just a game.

I was hoping to get hog responses. You guys, after all, knew life in the SWC and the SEC is where you ultimately knew the greatest would play ball. I am asking how you think it has worked out...where do you feel your program is? I think 2006 and 2010 were the best Arkansas teams of the modern era and they gave their best shot and came away with an 0-3 postseason. Do any of you wish you were in the Big XII, where if in the north division, you might could take a run at a BCS game every year. I mean...1 BCS game in 19 seasons in the SEC (of course, just over half count as BCS era)...no SEC titles? Maybe I can get a non-biased answer. I, for one, would hate to think that LSU would only make 1 BCS apperance in the next 20 years. Sure, it could happen, but objectively, I would put my money on LSU in a race to 10 BCS bowl games under their belt as opposed to Arkansas. I am starting over with that number, too - meaning let's assume both schools have zero and as of next year as the starting point, who will win the most games and be in the most BCS games? I still have to think that it's easy money on LSU when it comes vs. Arky.

Meanwhile, it would not surprise me one bit if the two teams split the next 10 games. Arkansas plays LSU like Ole Miss does - tough and record is irrelevant. Like I said, I think Arkansas is far above Ole Miss and South Carolina...but damn, how can Arkansas feel that a dynasty is happening when they're still not winning SEC titles or winning big show bowl games. I haver my view of Arky. I want to know if people share my views. I think comparing them to Tennessee is very fair. Tennessee is a charter member and still a bigger name. Still, the Vols and Hogs must continue to rely on out of state talent to be in a hunt. Arkansas produces good players, but nothing to the degree of Texas and LA. Another question, however, might be to say with confidence that the Hogs are now a team that will get 4 stars out of Texas and LA. It's easy for Arkansas to make an SEC title game appearance once every five years. It's safe to assume that. Can they win 2 SEC titles in 5, though?

Bottom line...they're a hard team to figure out. The fact that they are still a new SEC member, in the grand scheme, probably and rightfully creates a mindstate of their fans that is awfully skewed. It's no offense...it's just wanting to know. As long as they can keep Petrino, they're going to be tough. He bolts for something better and they're going to have a rough time replicating what they've recently been doing. The Hogs have to be sick of that mentality of what they were under Nutt where they played well as the underdog and choked as the titan.

Not to stray off topic but...I don't know, volfan, if laughing is how you truly expect to view that tier model that the poster created. What does Tennessee have to be thrilled about lately? 0-3 in last 3 SEC title games and no wins during the 2000-2010 era. I think Tennessee just might be the most stuck in neutral of all SEC teams.

Really now Bob? 2004, 2005, and 2008 beg to differ. Take away Matt Jones, McFadden and Jones, and Mallet and give me another supserstar that can carry the team on its back? Those 4 guys carried their respective teams. yeah, Childs and Monk and Cobbs were damn good...but look at the defenses. Bua, e.g. Is Arkansas just not capable of building a defensive-minded ballclub? I can say that the Hogs have been one of the better offensive clubs of the decade, but there's obviously something missing.

We were bottom 4 with Ford.

We were 8 to 6 with Nutt.

Now that Petrino has his players we'll be consistent top 5 in the SEC for the next few years.

Arkansas will likely have more success consistently under Petrino than at any time since the 1960's when we ended the decade as the AP's #4 overall team for the decade.

Tennessee and LSU are practically identical programs all time. And Tennessee is miles ahead of a program like Arkansas, even with our recent struggles. Every program goes through down periods. Even with arguably our worst 10 year stretch in program history this is how the programs rank all time:
Tier 1: Bama
Tier 2: LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Auburn
Tier 3: Arkansas, Ole Miss
Tier 4: Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Kentucky
Tier 5: South Carolina

Programs go through valleys and highs, as an LSU fan you should know this. Putting UGA a tier ahead of Tennessee is laughable as well. Tennessee is the better program all time and is in a better situation for the future.

Great. Don't respond then. If you didn't care you would have just not posted at all.

And the cliffnotes comments...it takes about 2 minutes to read a few paragraphs. Maybe I should stick to the "ARkansas sucks...pass it on" posts and be done with it.
