I'm fully aware of that, considering it's plastered all over there stadium, not to mention my cousin played football for A&M.

It was a serious question people. I didn't realize it was a touchy subject within the SEC Rant.

I'm in my twenties fwiw.

Since you flamed everybody in your OP, you never got a legitimate answer. I'm not 100% sure of the answer, but using the definition of the term, I'll hazard a guess.

quote:

flagship - the finest, largest, or most important one of a series, network, or chain <the company's flagship store>

The fans & alumni of Arkansas consider their institution the "flagship" of the university system in the state of Arkansas. Over time, I assume, this has become a common nickname or reference for the fans & alumni of the University. When they come on the SECRant, they use this reference which may be ubiquitous in Arkansas, but other SEC school's fans obviously consider it arrogant. Thus, we have the constant back & forth between the Arkansas folks here and the other fanbases.

If I'm offbase here, let me know.

Thank you again for proving my point about obnoxious fans from other fan bases.

I'd stay away from the obnoxiousness of your own fanbase, fwiw.

Again, thank you proving your ignorance in this thread

Ignorance has literally NOTHING to do with this, unless you count the fact that you can't seem to realize that the only reason I'm doing this is because you brought it up.

I think they started throwing it around for lulz right before either the Sugar Bowl or the Arky Super Bowl. Someone mentioned how they were the "Flagship University of the State of Arkansas", we all laughed our asses off, then someone was all like, "We're Flagship of the SEC. :dwi:" Either way, no one in their right mind calls it that outside of TD.

Or at least, not before this started. :flagship'd:

FWIW I've never heard this outside the SECr, even in AR. I thought it was like "Germans". Could be wrong, but I thought an AR fan posted something about being the flagship univ a while ago, and everyone just jumped on it.
