ESPN hates the SEC, so what's new?

Pretty shittily up until this year. Why would they be accurate? We were so irrelevant that it didn't even matter.

"Media hates LSU football".
What do you expect after they voted us past other undefeated teams early in the 2011 season, swore we had more talent than anyone else in the country and an NFL caliber coach, got our beloved HB a seat at the Downtown Athletic Club and then immediately went on to Bama's cock after we lost to them in the BCSNCG.
We knew we were still better than everyone else. Hell, we were better this year too. We be again in 2013.

CBS hates us, SVP and Russilo love us. LSU gets a ridiculous amount of publicity, both good and bad, but it's great for the program.
CFN.com has some favorable bias towards us. They had our two loss team ranked ahead of Notre Dame for a couple of weeks.

Journalists are employed to know what they're talking about, yet they're getting worse at knowing anything beyond the superficial topics with each team.
IMO there's been such a rush for everything to turn into investigative reporting (for the "shock" value and hits) that sports reporting is starting to lack in other areas as a result. Obviously you have some exceptions to the rule but for a large part their concentration is less about basic reporting and more about who can we bust cheating.

So when I read a national story about your team, am I getting fed BS?
Probably.

They do a horrible job.
I hated how commentators and uninformed writers would talk about Joker being on the hot seat, and how he just needed time to turn the program around. That you couldn't give a guy just 3 years at a place like UK and expect him to win.
Even though the Joke inherited a UK program in the best shape it has ever been, he ended the longest bowl streak we have ever had. Then each year his teams got steadily worse in every way.
Yet many members of the media acted like we ran the dude out of town.

When A&M joined the SEC, the national media and Texas media pretty much raked A&M through the mud nonstop for months.
It's been pleasant to see some positive press for a change.
That was the point of the move - to improve and increase the Texas A&M brand nationally.
The success on the field this season has really helped in that regard...
