There is a hotel called Greystone Suites at the Vance exit on I-59. This is at he Mercedes Benz plant exit. Absolutely nothing off the exit besides the plant and hotel but it is in between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. Probably 20 mins to Tuscaloosa. Hope this helps, here is a link to the website. Also seems to have very good reviews on trip advisor.

If you want to go out in Tuscaloosa and travel from your hotel, I'd pick one in Hoover, Vance, etc. etc.

If you want to go out in Birmingham on Friday night, I'd probably stay further in town where there are lots of bars, and about a 15-20 minute difference in the car.

The bitch is driving back to Birmingham immediately AFTER the game. That said, if it's a 2:30 kickoff, you can just hang out in Tuscaloosa and tailgate until the traffic clears.

I'm still trying to find someone to start a charter helicopter service from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa on gameday.

if you are indeed a "Sally" and look something like the 'All in the Family' Sally Struthers and not the starving children Sally Struthers (irony) you can stay with me.

Seriously, the Bessemer option is a good one. Fairly new exit with 3 or 4 chains. I'm not the 'night life guu' but for food there's a Cracker Barrel, Applebee's and Ruby Tuesdays there, too.

I'd like to go out in Tuscaloosa on Friday night if at all possible. Maybe some place in Vance is something I will consider.

Ever used 'Name Your Own Price' for flights or rental cars?

Hoover- It's only a 40 minute drive to Tuscaloosa. Maybe a little longer on game day but not too bad. Lots of hotels-The Galleria is there. There are some new hotels in Hoover on HWY 150 Exit 6 off I-459 like Embassy Suites, Marriott Residence Inn, Holiday Inn & Hampton Inn-All new hotels.

If you stay in Hoover and do come down I-459... try Highway 216 through Brookwood. That's a cut-off for some folks. You can access the University Mall parking through that route and take the shuttle to the stadium.

Columbus, MS. About an hour away and there shouldn't be an issue with getting a room

I haven't checked either, but I've never booked a Tuscaloosa hotel in advance. Granted I'm certain all of the hotels near campus are more than likely booked, but Tuscaloosa? No.

I hear the same story in regards to both Alabama and Auburn every single year, yet my crew is able to find one on the eve of every big game we've been to (in both towns).

The way traffic is heading towards Birmingham, I'd be willing to bet you could make it to meridian faster.
