I think you can point to the Portal and NIL money as the cause. Players are moving all over the place which affects team depth and commitment to staying and working into a position. It disrupts continuity both in losing guys and in bringing in guys that aren’t familiar with the system.
This has brought a level of parity to the SEC that we haven’t had in a while. I’m not against it per se but it does impact the teams that have out recruited other teams in the conference to build significant depth. It also gives teams that don’t have this level of transfers to beat teams with better athletes through experience and comfort in the same system. On the flip side, a team like FL loses a huge amount of players and has to essentially rebuild.
