One good reason is how good the attendance is in Hoover. How many of those fans do you really think traveled across states for a multi day college baseball conference tourney? The vast majority of attendees are locals. Hoover and the surrounding towns have money and are filled with fans and alumni from all the SEC schools. Growing up in Hoover the SEC tournament is a big weekend. A lot of people go and spend a whole day or weekend watching games that their team isn't even involved in. Hoover is also much more family friendly then any downtown stadiums. People take their whole families and make a family weekend out of going to the games. The Hoover Met might not be as nice as parks in Memphis or Nashville but I seriously doubt either of those parks could match the attendance Hoover.
Attendance in Nashville would crush Hoover. First off, it's a city that everyone wants to visit. There are tons of things to do. It's centrally located, and there are tons of SEC alumni/fans living there. I bet it could almost sellout on locals alone

1. Most fans at those games are NOT local. The local turnout is very poor.
Well that's just BS. I am a Hoover native and I've spent at least one day at the tourney nearly every year since it moved here in '98. The only fanbases that have any sort of noticeable traveling presence is LSU, MSU, and depending on the year Ole Miss. Even then I'd guess half the fans from those fanbases live in the greater Birmingham area or somewhere in Alabama.
Maybe it seems that way to you being from the only fanbase that gives a shite about college baseball.
If it weren't for the locals then that park would be damn near empty for every game.
Have a fun visit to my hometown

the "old" parks had lots of character

The Met is the old "cookie cutter" stadiums that was built in the 60 and 70's. Those stadiums have been imploded and turned into parking lots for the new parks. It is time for the Met to follow and be imploded...let's not try to characterize it as a "Fenway or Wrigley".
Agreed. The Met is the college baseball version of Riverfront/Veterans/Three Rivers/prevous Busch stadiums. Drab cookie-cutter symmetrical bowls.

The Met is a 60's 70's cookie cutter... That was built in 1988

Came here to say regions park has zero parking and would be a terrible spot for the tournament.
Carry on.

Love seeing ignorant comments like saying Hoover is a shithole.

There is plenty of parking for both, and Nashville has a lot that could be used for RV's. The met isn't a shithole, but it also makes 0 sense to keep playing there when there are better venues available. The only ones I that I see coming to the Met's defense are Birmingham residents.

Clearly, Nashville would be the perfect place. That's just science. That said...
No sporting event, up to and including Grizzlies' home games, should take place in Memphis. Memphis has character, Memphis has culture, Memphis has a crime rate on par with certain apocalyptic wastelands. Go there for the barbecue and the blues and get out. Birmingham has gotten bad in recent years, as I understand it, but Hoover isn't nearly as bad as Birmingham proper, according to friends who live in the area. Either way, it's not Memphis.
But it's the local enthusiasm that really should be given scrutiny. These things stretch on for far too long for many traveling fans to stay the duration. How many people do y'all know that can (or would) use half their yearly vacation days to go to a series of baseball games that don't even decide the national title? How many would consider it a good reason to lay down that much cash? I suppose that would favor the Hoover location -- the RV parking aspect would cater to traveling fans who don't want to spring for hotels and restaurants every day. But it's still probably more important that the people already living there step up. I don't know if Nashville would do better than Birmingham, but we're a bit less "football, then other sports than may or may not have balls involved" than Alabama is, so there is that. Frankly, I think the best way to settle on a permanent location is to rotate the games for a few years and see which locales get the most local support.
Also, I think we can all agree that Atlanta should not be in the running, period, nor should any place in Florida.

They should play at Trustmark Park in Pearl, MS. Plenty of hotels and shopping around there.

If you polled the people who attend on a regular basis, I guarantee the majority would vote to stay in Hoover. It is a great College Baseball atmosphere. I think a move would ruin the atmosphere much like the move in Omaha ruined the CWS atmosphere.

This statement is dumb. Who wouldn't want to catch a SECT in an Orlando or Kissimmee minor league stadium and then hit Cocoa Beach or the theme parks with the kids after the series is over? At least on a rotating basis.
I bet attendance would far outpace Hoover.
