On another thread some say that Ole Miss didn't meet expectations last year.

I've heard Hootie describes as doing less with more and more with less.

If that is true, is there any chance Ole Miss will exceed the pre-season expectations? Having watched Hootie for 12 years, I think they just might surprise some people.

What do the Ole Miss fans think? Can you surprise some teams? How does your schedule shake out?

(I do ask my fellow Hog fans to not flame, I am curious about other opinions)

I think we'll be a 7 win team +/-1.

You've seen his teams. They'll either surprise 1 team and beat them or scare the shite out of a superior team, or do both, then will lose to someone they have no business losing to. That's more reliable than me taking a shite before a shower every morning. The only question is who is it going to be.

With Kent Austin, the root of the problem, out of the way, at least we can rest assured that the poor decision-making that plagued Snead is a thing of the past.

I think the key is how much talent they have on the offensive line. If Markuson has the talent then they'll have a solid running game.

Massie and Sowell will be pretty good this year at Tackles. Rishaw Johnson has been in beastmode all practice handling Powe. Our big question(IMHO) is the new center and LG.

I've seen some posters dismiss Ole Miss this upcoming season and I think that is a mistake. With that many peices on the Oline, Ole Miss will have a good run game and be able to control the tempo. I think they will be dangerous and surprise some teams. I've seen Hootie do it too many times.

He will have them ready for Arkansas.

That said, the poster above was right, he does have a tendency to lose a game he should win.

And I'm generally keeping my mouth shut. I learned my lesson from last season of over-hyping players.

I agree. And on the flip side, he can take a game that he should lose. showed it against UF in 08. I don't consider 09 LSU in this category as I think we should have beaten them last year regardless.

Seriously, Ole Miss will probably do OK this year. I just hope it's not on our watch.

This^ that is the Ole Miss coach to a "T". Blame others for the head coaches bad play calling and mistakes while taking all the glory. I fear this will led to a shorten stay at Ole Miss than the one he experienced at Arkansas.

and I fear there will be no gaterade bath nor carrying the coach of the field in victory this year.

How sad is it that for a preseason team to be picked to win the SECW and go to the SECCG would be so happy for the Nutt bowl victory and a trip to the cotton bowl? I thought Ole Miss did not consider us a rival?

I think whatever the record Ole Miss will underachieve. They are the S. Carolina of the SEC West.

Many people on here are predicting us in 5/6th place in the West. Not much room for underachieving.

first off no one gives a shite about beating arky. Losing would suck because we hear how bad nutt is even after hes beat yall twice in a row, imagine how bad he's going to suk when he actually loses.

secondly, when the true west champion wins the national championship, our star qb turns into shite, and after half a decade of being the cellar, cotton bowl victories are fantastic

I don't really disagree with anything that's been said in this thread other than this. If OM didn't care about beating Arkansas they wouldn't have given Nutt a Gatorade bath after the win last year.

We'd need a little more competition out of you before we consider you a rival. Right now you're more of our bitch. This year go ahead and make some sammiches before we get there cause Powe works up an appetite bending his arkansas bitches over all night.

The only surprise, at least for Rebel Fans, will be just how far they have fallen w/o the majority of O's recruits. Going from a preseason top 10 team to……..?
