I am guessing you guys don't have any big time games for the first couple weeks then. I am sure Mallett has some great chemistry with the Arky WR's, not that the backup isn't capable. There is no way he can have the chemistry that they have.

fwiw, we were saying the same exact thing last year about Ole Miss. Snead had great chemistry with his WR's during the summer and we played a few cupcake games to start off the season.
uncanny.

he was still running...you got the call...but that was bs
Posted on 6/4/10 at 12:35 pm to sugatowng
I don't care if they are both running...two hands on the back with arms extended will be called OPI 9/10 times. If it was just one hand then he would have been okay. If he would have just gave a slight push only one time instead of two, then he would have gotten away with it. But he did it twice.
Even the smart Arkansas fans I've talked to said it was the right call. It's just the sour pusses that can't get over the fact that it was the right call and needed an excuse for why they lost.

Doesn't matter. A wide receiver can't make that kind of contact down the field. You don't have to tackle a defender for an OPI call.
If his arms weren't applying any pressure, they wouldn't have stayed on the guys back if it was just because "he was still running".
If his arms didn't extend and our DB made distance between them, then I would agree that it was BS. But that isn't the case.
Sorry. But you're just coming off as butthurt.
....actually, not sorry. I find it funny.

and that 1/10th time would be considered a "blown call"

I've reffed before....and they make you read that book very carefully to know all rules and calls. It was the right call as much as Arkansas fans hate it.

Not saying that the backups do but all reports state that Mallet is 100% and will be ready by fall practices. However, if Mallett isn't ready to go or goes down during the year we will go with Wilson and/or Mitchell. I'm not saying that is my preference but there is no other option and I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
Both Wilson and Micchell are more than capable and both bring a different element to the offense than does Mallett. In fact, I believe Mitchell and will get some plays early in the season and in key situations simply because of what he brings to the offense; a real running threat that has a very strong and accurate passing arm.

It could have easily been a no call but it doesn't matter whether it was right or wrong it was called PI and it cost the Hogs a chance of winning the game. End of discussion.

As for that offensive PI call...it very well might have been a TECHNICAL violation of the rules. But it's one that is ignored 90% of the time. Consistency in application of the rules...

No it isn't. PI's are called countless times for lesser offenses

Nutt thought the same thing, even allowing the Versus Network to film training camp because he thought it would immediately give the team a sense of urgency with everyone watching their every move from Day 1. While Petrino will be more guarded this fall, the similarities between the two teams and the two seasons are eerie.
My favorite part of the article....
Nutt with his Rah Rah....
Petrino with his quiet guarded optimism......
