As I've been watching some college basketball and seeing that it is a now a foul to even think about touching an offensive player, so was wondering how this had translated with Mike's style.
Has there been a ton of foul calls? Has Mike dialed back his system? Have you played the same system and dared the refs to foul out all of your players?

We had a total of 54 fouls called on both teams, I think against Akron.
It's not just us, but it's too many calls across the board.

We have suffered in our first few games because of the foul calls. That Akron game was brutal. I think in general he has dialed it back a little. People want to bring up the 40 minutes of hell but that will never be possible in college basketball again. I believe Mike will find good points in games to push the press and know when it isn't a good idea. It will be interesting to see what he can do with this team.

Yeah, I had just remembered how we used to play under him. Especially when we had Tiller and Taylor at guard. we would mug teams the entire game and got away with it for the most part.
Just had thought there is no way they could play like that anymore.
College hoops just can't get it right. Officiating continues to be horrific. They went from allowing guys to clutch and grab to calling fouls for being too close to a guy.
How about something in the middle?

The new emphasis of called fouls is a much larger problem for the slow it down, mug it out behind the three point line, style of coaches.
Too many really do not understand the point of the press in Mike's system, it isn't a design to slow a team down (like Georgetown's Press), it is similar to the HUNH principle in football when you are hurrying the pace of the game trying dictate the tempo of the game in an effort to create more possessions in a game.

referees have ruined the college game for me, way too many foul calls.

I understand the frustration if you have been watching the past years. It looks like they are trying to get the game back to what it used to be when you had to move your feet to play D instead of being able to grab, hold, or push to keep an offensive player from beating you. I blame Pat Riley and the Motown Bad Boys for creating the football game in a basketball arena.
