For this study we classified "downfield" as all throws traveling 5+ yards through the air. Seemed like a solid cutoff to filter out screens and quicks without convoluting the data set.

Highest among returners
1. Bo Nix - 24%
2. Matt Corral - 22%
3. Mac Jones - 21%**
4. John Rhys Plumlee - 21%
5. Jarrett Guarantano - 20%
**24% in games as a starter

Lowest among returners
1. Kyle Trask - 15%

For reference: Joe Burrow led all SEC QBs last season at 12%

-We are really excited to see the leap Trask can make this year.

-And for UGA fans wondering, Jamie Newman comes in at 18% here.

ETA:
-For LSU fans, Myles Brennan comes in at 14% (very small data set, however)

Shaping up to be a down year for SEC QBs if Trash tops a list.

ETA- I'm going to keep that auto-correct in my post.

Considering he was a true freshman playing an incredibly difficult schedule, I'd give Bo Nix a pass on that statistic.

Agree. The freshmen here will likely improve.

Where's Costello at?

Also, seems obvious but figured I'd ask, this doesn't include throwaways that go over 5 yards right?

Costello was at 21% last year (rocky year with the injuries).

But he was at 14% in 2018, which was the 2nd best in the PAC 12

Right. This filters out all throwaways and obviously spikes.

Yikes!

A1abana fans have gone from celebrating championships - to celebrating a better July recruiting class than Rutgers.

Rutgers isn't the only team Alabama has a better class than.

They lead the entire SEC.

But you knew that already. That's why you're hiding here.

They normally do, that’s how they keep producing these magical Citrus Bowl seasons!

Good post. He is trying to distract from the very telling statistics in this thread. Sad!

Nothing worse than vulnerable script A’s that add no value to intelligent sports discussions around here!!

We try to keep the convo moving as best as we can.

You know what's sad?

Quoting yourself from your alter account and forgetting to remove the bolded parts.

That's weird. None of the formatting moved over when I quoted you.

But, then again, I'm not your alter.

Hmmm...

Holy stupid!

I’m starting to understand why you’re an admin on the A1abana board. Only the dumbest dummies in all of Dummyville can land that job.
