Gave up trying to read every post here but one intangible that's not factored is that a team CAN be really good at one point of its schedule and not so good at another point. Mississippi State was outstanding early last year, one of the very best teams, but lost its mojo. Beating that early team should mean more than beating them when they were deflated. It works the other way as well, due to position changes, improved health, etc. LSU was far better on defense after Beckwith was inserted into the starting lineup. A lot of teams are doing that now. Other than expanding the playoff field I see no way to account for all the intangibles.

Having UA and LSU both in the top 4 this week before they play allows the media to hype the game and get more viewers and make more money, which is what its all about.

Some people just can't see the forest for the trees.

I really like bama and I'd be just as happy if they win, but it's comical listening to everyone on Sirius radio try and pass off this turd sandwich as a filet mignon

They say it's week to week and start over but then they use bama's history as a talking point, there's no way given how they say they called it and the constraints they have given themselves that you can justify bama over a lot of teams, let alone Florida

I can agree with this, it's a win win situation for the media and the polls.

But what if Bama beats LSU by one point on a last second score then LSU and Bama win out? Will LSU make the playoffs after they beat the team that beat Bama? Bama got the benefit of a do over just a few years ago.

Bama getting the highranking now gets them in the playoffs if they win out, when there could be other teams undefeated or one loss left out.

I think it all just boils down to is, win and you go no matter who the team is. I just don't see two SEC teams getting in this year unless an undefeated LSU loses to Florida in the SEC championship game.

Nope, If LSU doesn't win we'll have to accept a p.o.s bowl. Only Alabama gets a mulligan.

LSU is #2 in the playoff poll, ahead of defending champ Ohio State and all they want to talk about is where Alabama is ranked. It is pathetic.

Personally, this is a bit high. We have some redzone defense problems and special teams is garbage. That's not a good combination. If LSU loses against Bama.. this will likely play a major role

Everyone advocated the playoff as helping the non marquee programs have a chance at the national championship. I said the real effect will be that the name brand programs will always find a way to be worked in. When they go to either, bet your sweet arse a team like Ohio State will NEVER be ranked 9-14. They will either be in top eight or down as far as fifteen. No in between.

Makes no difference.

It's week to week.

After this week, Bama won't be sniffing top four again.
