I think most are making a big deal about it, is because Malzahn made a big deal about it preseason.

What should he have done about it? Burn a timeout. Auburn gets three per half right?

All he could have done was call a timeout. All the other possibles make him look bad.

If it was a troll at BB it makes him look childish. If he had him fake to stop the clock it makes him look like a hypocrite. If Swain was hurt it makes him look like he really does not care about player safety.

I've only read to this point, but this is one of the most comical replies ever.

Swain got up gimpy, and didn't play the rest of the game.

Might have been told to go down, might have decided to do it himself. Who knows?

I agree with you. He got up gimpy. But this is part of what other coaches were talking about preseason. Player safety. And Malzahns response was you get three timeouts per half don't you.

If that was the rule, lose a time out if you have an injured player then sure. But he shouldnt' have to burn a time out if he's got an injured player when other teams aren't expected to burn a time out when they have an injured player.

as far as the perception, swain didn't play, so it's clear he was injured, so really this is just fodder for fans to complain about. If not this then something else. It's a good way to pass the time of day but that's about it.

Good point, but he didn't say that about gimpy players, he said that about tired players. Swain wasn't tired...he was hurt.

He was talking time outs in regards to getting the right personnel in if you dont have it. You use the timeout instead of faking an injury.

This is great!

Good for Gus...he has finally arrived. When opposing fans bitch about trivial shite that a HC does that does not pertain to thier team,...youknow you are SEC legit!

This is because of what Malzahn said preseason. He should set the standard or not go out on that limb.

Nobody really cares that Swain flopped. It is just about all the talk Malzahn has done.

Gus isn't held to any different standard than other coaches. He's subject to the same rules and restrictions.

Arky wans't moving fast, it wasn't designed to slow down the play, hell they were huddling. So what he said about faking injuries shouldn't apply to a legitmate injury, no?
