Now we could have just given Cam $180,000 out in the open.

No, they don't. California can write all the stupid fricking laws they want. They have zero legal ground to stand on, and the NCAA (and everyone else with half a legal sense) knows it.

Are you a lawyer? Cause I've talked to a lawyer about this subject and his exact stance was that it means they would be subject to lawsuit. Are you saying you believe they would be dismissed on summary judgement?

ElOhEl at California being a terrible place to live. It’s got everything.
But that wasn’t the point.
The point is that now we’ve invited government into college athletics. If you think it ends with this legislation then you don’t pay attention to much of anything. This bill will benefit the few players on each team who can profit from their position as an athlete. That WILL lead to paying all college athletes.
I see the merits. The players have had a raw deal, imho. But, it’s been voluntary. Nobody has to accept a scholarship to play NCAA sports. Now the government will have a say in what is “fair”
for college athletics

Can’t wait until a back-up QB sues the school and the coach for hampering his right to earn.

The possibilities are a litigious dream
