Might be the only one they could have picked that would be worse than Gary. Thank God we're no longer on CBS.

Gary was pretty solid. College football fans are just whiny as frick.

quote:Ive had to watch Gary and Verne cheer against Auburn for decades. Purposefully mispronouncing names, taking swipes, and always sucking off bama.
My lord, it’s not that serious
That piece of shite even went so far as to say it was "unfair" when Auburn sacked Brody 18 fricking times and that we shouldnt be able to do that and someone should stop Auburn from blitzing
Verne's infamous, "OH NO!" when Auburn had the Prayer in Jordan Hare against UGA will always be remembered too
Both those shitbags hated Auburn and took every opportunity to express it. Good fricking riddance

I’m an odd man out on this.
I thought Gary was one of the best ever.
My favorites all time are Gottfried and Franklin.
And while the LSU hate is somewhat strong on this board, for Gary, I thought he was fair and he did a great job. It’s hard not to be vocal about great calls.
And let’s be honest, Alabama had more exciting plays than anyone else in the past 20 years and that bothers the other 15 teams.
Gary could see Amari cooper lining up with a single DB 7 yards off and he automatically knew that cooper was collecting six points.
He prognosticated this before the play even started. That’s not his fault. He could see it, our coaches could not. That’s where the anger should have been directed.
He’s one of the best all time.
Pretty good take. I do also agree with another poster who pointed out that he could get overly infatuated with a particular player or story line, at the expense of other equally intriguing matchups or details.
I guess I will say I don't have strong feelings either way about him, but I will point out the obvious: this thread is an unintentionally- hilarious litmus test showing how those who have the strongest feelings in the negative tend to be our lowest IQ, knuckle dragging, homer, idiots. Seriously, it's like a Who's Who out of that group, hating hard on Gary here:
SEC Doctor
TutHillTiger
AuburnTigers
Rohan Gravy
The only outlier to this hypothesis, is somehow, some way, Stidham8 likes Gary

I’ve never understood the hate for Danielson. He could be annoying but dude knows football, especially from the offense/QB perspective. He played QB in the NFL for 13 years with over 13,000 yards and a career 57% completion percentage. He wasn’t great but he was solid in a time when the passing game wasn’t what it is now. He routinely diagnosed defenses and called plays before the ball was snapped.
I always thought it was hilarious other SEC schools thought he was a Bama homer. Most Bama fans think he hates us and loves LSU and Auburn.
