Unpopular opinion but I like Texas being in the SEC.
The SEC league office loves the money that will roll in from the next contract. Disney loves the ratings from the games like Texas/Georgia will bring. And truthfully we the fans are all better off from the SEC adding two top brands in Texas and OU. Collectively we all benefit and are better positioned from being partners.
Some board members here can't get past their feelings and acknowledge that. That's fine - it's not like it matters in the big scheme of things.

As one of these coon assess I agree 100%. And now that I live in Texas among Aggie fans, yall aren't quite as gay as most make yall out to be.

When are any of us seeing all that money you’re supposedly bringing in? Because none of the rest of the schools are making an extra dime from all of the scheduling headaches your arrival has brought. At least with Missouri and A&M we all got a substantial pay raise.

I don't think so. You never said "hey guys, you better watch out because Texas will come in here and win the damn thing in their first year.."
No, I don't think you told 'em that. But that's why you're all butt chapped.
You need to worry more about Mizzou. Y'all are going nowhere but down going forward. Vandy said so.

You know the answer. Your Gators will enjoy the money so you can afford to pay your team, continue to upgrade your facilties, buy your next coach etc. This all happens with the next contract.
As fans, we enjoy seeing our teams play top brand schools. I'm looking forward to Florida visiting Austin later this year, regardless of the outcome. And obviously Georgia too. If you honestly don't enjoy the prospect of Texas in the Swamp, well then you're well off the average mark for a college football fan.

Low sports IQ has set Jimbo up for this lifetime and the next.

quote:Zero playoff wins, you got beat by our new coach, you remember the old one, greatest of all time, won how many national titles? We lose count because unlike you we need more than one hand to count them.
Well Texas utterly humiliated last year’s SEC champion on their own field (so much so that their head coach had to retire in shame). How hard can it be?
quote:You don’t have any achievements since then, acting like you’ve done something lately because you have no past is what lesser programs do.
Is this the part where we pretend like 2010 achievements are more relevant to the 2024 season than this year or last year are?
As much as I despise them the Vol fans are focused on their potential, not a meaningless regular season game.
quote:Zero playoff wins, 1 playoff appearance. There’s several SEC programs that spend less and have results you’re gnawing your liver over because you can’t do it.
Being crowned the best athletic department the last several years is wasting money?
quote:Yep, because you think it means something at this point. We’ve been ranked #1 more than anyone else, we get that doesn’t happen to you much so you’re excited about it. Just doesn’t mean anything right now.
Being recognized as the best football program in the nation currently is wasting money?
quote:9 playoff wins for much less money spent, 3 national championships since the playoffs began. More than anyone else, again spending less than you.
If you think that’s “wasting money” then it’s no wonder you could only get in to Alabama
We can spending money wisely smart. You just burn more of it and brag about how much you spend.
And you’ve spent all that to be the 2nd best program since the playoffs started in your own state. We’d lose our minds if we’d done that and Troy had more playoff wins.
Guess that’s why you lost yours.

Texas fans are like LSU fans, but with money.

Your rant is a bit odd. Texas is a storied athletic program with multiple NCs in many sports. Yeah we don't have the outsized success Alabama does in football, but no one does.
We are understandably excited about the present. I don't like the chest-pounding and trolling some Texas fans are engaging in right now on SEC Rant, but I guess it is common behavior from fans of all colors.

Well, I would say that is near-sighted and unimaginary. Good thing your vision is not the prevailing one.

Oh. I wasn't aware SEC Rant was some type of online sports "Thunderdome". LOL.
I'm just trying to have some football conversation, man. Not really interested in chest-pounding or trading insults. I probably shouldn't have engaged on this thread.

Us and the Big 10 (call them whatever) will be the only 2 left standing, we just got ahead of the curve.
So you see we aren’t near sighted, and you apparently didn’t see it. You’re a means to an end, nothing more.
Here you aren’t the big dog, you’re a stray we picked up.

Lesser program? Since this is the entertainment business, and money is the driver, exactly which program in the SEC is Texas "lesser" than?

Alabama
Georgia
LSU
Oklahoma (since they joined they’re part of the conference too and their history counts)
You’re on par with
Florida
Auburn
The stinking Vols
You kinda need success in this conference to go with the money if you want any respect. None of the top programs are poor.
So you see why we aren’t impressed. You haven’t done anything to earn it yet.

God I love SEC fans. So much entertainment
"You've never seen anything like the SEC"
"SEC is a gauntlet of nfl teams week in and week out"
"We made OU cry this weekend. We could have scored 70 if we wanted to"
"You'll never win anything in the SEC"
....
"God Texas fans are arrogant"
The ironic comedy is fricking gold jerry, gold!
