For those that didn't read the article in the X-post this the quick of it.
The NIL collectives have been placing what equals as a buyout clause similar to what a coach would have to pay if he wanted to leave for another job. So the player bolts to Missouri and the contract he signed says he owes to the collective the remaining amount of what was to be paid to him. I can see the judge siding with the collective. He'll have to pay it, Missouri pays for him, or maybe he gets a lein on future earnings.

Below is from the article.
quote:

The contract was a 14-month agreement worth $500,000, which was set to be paid in monthly $30,000 increments. Georgia would have also paid Wilson two $40,000 retention bonuses at the end of the NCAA transfer portal windows. The exit clause states that Wilson would owe a lump-sum payment worth the total he would have received if he remained with the program through the duration of the contract.

Obvious bias aside, everyone should be pulling for UGA in this case. It would set an important precedent that could help get this garbage under control.

Why?

It would be an admission of guilt by the “adults” in a court of law that they were NEVER paying a single penny for his Name, Image, nor Likeness, just his prowess as a football player.

You, me, or anyone else is not going to get a system that is based on corruption and semantics under control.

If uga wins this, go for it. It’s time for everyone to band together and get the guards back to running the asylums, even if the patients are on your team
