Georgia fans: how does your football team travel?

I heard our basketball team had to fly into South Carolina because Athens airport couldn’t even support a regional jet.
So does your football team have to travel to Atlanta every time they fly to a game?
A wonderful college town like Athens should be able to support larger planes.
But Athens is a suburb of Atlanta supposedly, so maybe it makes sense they have to travel to the Atlanta airport (an hour and a half away) to fly out.

So would you think Athens is a suburb of Atlanta then?

I don't believe Starkville, Tuscaloosa, or Oxford can support regional jets either.
Weird airport flex

I would think for Bama games they'd fly into BHM. Not sure about the 2 Mississippi schools.

Our football team 100% flies out of Athens. We prob just tell other teams that so that have to travel longer

Tuscaloosa can.
Oxford and Starkville have larger airports that can within 30 minutes of campus. So yes, they’re actually better than Athens in that category. You have to drive over an hour from Athens to get to an airport that supports them.
But Athens isn’t in the middle of no where supposedly.

Correct. Alabama has Birmingham, Ole Miss Memphis, and State goes to Columbus.

Yep and you can typically confirm via Flightaware. I believed they used a 717 when they went to ND (South bend).

Ole Miss uses the Memphis airport which is an hour away.

Who cares?
Like I said before, this is a really weird flex.

I don't think there are close to enough people commute from Athens to Atlanta daily for work to call it a suburb.
They are close enough together to be convenient, but that's about it

How do you know that’s Athens airport? Could be a random Atlanta area one.
Posted on 1/21/19 at 12:12 pm to ForeverGator
Ben Epps is in Athens. Not sure what you want me to say. They expanded the runway in 2015

Right. And nowhere in that video of post does it show the name of the airport.

I’m not sure why this turned into a thing but here’s the definition.
