There's a reason no former assistant has been able to beat Saban (although Kirby came close). You can duplicate Saban's system, his methods, his recruiting and his general work ethic. But, you can't duplicate his football genius. From bringing in Lane Kiffin changing the offense to a dual threat RPO, to making great on the field calls like the onside kick vs Clemson and going with Tua, and to smaller things like letting Derrick Henry be a RB when every other team wanted him to be a LB. You just can't duplicate that.

I don't recall Saban getting trucked on the road by an inferior team in year 3.

Georgia is constantly changing from game to game right now. They are a good bit better now than they were two weeks ago. Lots of Freshman played more prominent roles in UK game - ILB Channing Tindall(sack), OLB Brenton Cox(sack), OLB Adam Anderson / these guys could develop quickly over next four weeks and had mostly been relegated to garbage time until last week.

Certainly Bama is the better team and will be but the gap very well could be smaller by the time we get to SECCG.

Saban has 20+ yrs of experience over Kirby and had a huge head start. Kirby is closing the gap quickly. I’m happy with the trajectory of the program.

Bama has another good 5yrs towards the top but with Dabo, Urban and Kirby he won’t win 5 more Nattys.

Enjoy your dominance Gumps, you are nearing the end.

We have been for almost 10 years and may get to for another 10 years. Saban has said he can't imagine not being part of a team which he has since little league football. The dude don't drink or smoke and stays in shape. Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno went past 80 and neither wanted to quit when they did. It must be a hard thing to give up.

First off, don’t think Saban is gonna coach 10 more years and, if your being honest with yourself, you don’t either.

Secondly, even if he does, his shelf life will still be five years because the whisper campaign on recruiting trail will become a shouting campaign. All the greats went down at the end - Bear Bryant, Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno (Paterno was down before the scandal).

If you want to convince yourself Saban will still be the Bama coach or the King in 2025, go ahead - Denial’s a bitch.

Seven points isn't getting destroyed. That 07 Bama wasn't good, even worse when those 5 starters were suspended.
