I thought Franklin was fine. He had some real zip on some passes, and ran when necessary.

The defense continues to concern me. I'm not sure if they are not showing everything or what, but this d has looked pretty bad for 3 quarters so far this season, and solid for the other 5.

Other than that, I can check everything off as usual.

Question my fandom. Check.
Yell at Pinkel through the TV. Check.
Wonder out loud to my dog why they can't stop a recurring play by the other team. Check.

All in all a solid effort.

Sorry Reedus but he played pretty well, hope we have seen enough of Maty is better posts. Would help if receivers could catch as well

He certainly was solid with his feet. With his arm? Meh considering it was against a MAC team known for not being able to defend against the pass. No reason he shouldn't have put up better numbers in the air.

I think Franklin is best on his feet when he's improvising. Those designed draws work for shite. His definitely showed his ability to extend a play today though. 200 or so yards. 1 TD and 1 INT? Against a MAC team? That had the reputation of not being able to defend the pass? Gives me a bit of a reason for concern.

The defense made plays at times but I think the Toledo play calling killed drives as much as our defense shut them down. Wilson getting ejected on that play for targeting is bullshite IMO. We really are heading to the day that it becomes flag football.

The targeting call on Wilson was BS for sure. I thought the refs were awful in general, there were several BS calls.

The offense moved the ball OK, and the defense came up with some good stops, but overall they looked kind of soft. Of course, it was so freaking hot I can't imagine they had good energy. There are definitely things to work on before we face an SEC team, because the team that played today will be lucky to win 2 SEC games. They have to get better.

So far I've seen nothing that makes me think Pinkel's job is secure. I'm more inclined than ever to think he'll "retire" at the end of this year. The ONLY thing that might change that is if we have a solid record (like 8-4) and they decide to give him next year so he can break Devine's record and become the winningest coach at Mizzou.

Targeting is BS as it is. I don't know if it's changed, but when I was playing low level high school ball we were always taught the worst thing you could do was lead with your head. It seems like penalizing someone for doing something wrong like they did is on purpose seems stupid

I seriously think his whole Mauk move is to show the fans he's thinking of the future and that he expects to be here to oversee that future. Given his stats in scrimmages, it doesn't make a whole ton of sense. He's done it before, but this one just seems forced. Mauk doesn't seem comfortable or able to lead the offense.

I think it's a real future move, and I think giving him a year to break the record (which I could have sworn was held by Faurot) is a huge mistake given the recruiting class.

I love you Pinkel, and I appreciate what you've done for the program, but I'm not going to set it back a for years to give you the respect. Win seven games this year, and you've got it.

I agree. I like the offense. Seems like the Defense is struggling. They have good parts in the game but have yet to put together a full good game. I have a feeling if they don't get their shite together vs IU and ASU then the SEC will eat that defense up.

You're right - he's 1 game away from Devine, and 9 away from Faurot's record. My mistake.

Unless he wins 8 games, I think he's gone. And I think that would be the right step. I appreciate everything he's done for the program, and realize the SEC move likely wouldn't have happened without him. But they're putting too much money into the AD to have a poor-to-mediocre football team.

I'm 31. My childhood was filled with rooting for a team that I knew had sucked for a very long time, and hadn't had a winning season forever. I respect what Pinkel has done, and I really do respect what he's been able to do. I just fear those that are slightly older than I am and jumped the gun a little too quick on Warren Powers and replacing him with Woody will be fearful of making a move to replace a good coach for an up and comer again.

Love Pinkel for what he's done, and respect his place in Mizzou history, but if this season isn't good, the Pinkel era should become just that, history.

My hope is to snag a coach from a good school that wants to prove himself in the SEC, don't know who. However, I can see why the people that have lived through the past would want to stick with Pinkel versus a coach unproven at a high level.
