Petrino was #6 in the country.

We can pay more if we need to. We're rich, bitch.

Muschamp was the new hotness when they hired him. Texas had made him HC in waiting, remember?

Availability is one thing. $$$ is not a problem at Arkansas these days. We're valued a top 10 program $-wise, and we have boosters willing to pay for a good coach.

And if Arkansas had shown any interest in giving him more than just this one year, no doubt in my mind they steal chief from LSU.

I disagree. Fulmer would not have been better than John L. Smith.

Smith knows the coaches and players and system already.

Fulmer would have spent the first month learning everybody's name.

Both are a shite sandwich, but Fulmer is the shite sandwich with fromunda cheese.

Yeah, when you look at their respective résumés you are clearly left with the impression that JLS > Fulmer. I get that as an Arkansas fan you have to pretend to be happy, but that is a bridge too far.

The Forbes thing is very temporal in nature dude you've been good the last few years so you saw a spike, you'll regress back to your mean now that Petrino is out

Their resumes have little to do with who was best for this particular situation.

They certainly do. You are trying to convince me that a guy who, to be generous, has only been average every where he has been, is better than a college HOF'er with a national title to his name. I'm not buying it. If Curly Hallman knows your talent better than Gene Stallings, that doesn't make Hallman better than Stallings.

You do know what a spike in data does to the mean, right? Especially when college football works more like an exponential moving average giving more weight to more recent periods.

Foley has had two (maybe a third) bad hires for head coaches so far during his tenure at UF. Zook and Peck, maybe Butler. Everyone else has been really good. I trust his opinion a lot more than anyone else.

There's not one single reason why Fulmer would have been the better choice for interim.

The interim is basically going to stand on the sidelines, give pep talks, and manage the gameday.

Fulmer coming in cold with no knowledge of players, staff or offense, vs a guy who was on staff, working with these players and coaches in December.

Its really not much of a question.

Fulmer is a name you are familiar with, but he's long-removed from the glory days at Tennessee.

How is this complicated for you? We're not hiring a long term coach here. This was about getting through the season. JLS allows the entire staff, schemes and terminology to stay in place allowing minimal disruption this late in the game. That would not have been the case with Fulmer.

Obviously Fulmer is a better coach than JLS. No one can argue that but for the next 8 months JLS is a better hire.

You're not paying attention.

The key word is interim, and this isn't a typical situation.

Rantarded to think Fulmer would be best fit for next 8 months.
