Fulmer & Croom gone after getting raises, this a trend?

How can 2 SEC coaches get canned after getting raises the year before? Is this a new trend in the SEC? Are SEC Universities now required to give a coach a raise to show support of their coach to get the media and fans off their backs. Seems like a trend to me.
