maybe nobody down there gives two-shits to watch NC State, UNC, WF, Duke, etc.
Throw in SEC schools that everybody knows and that are usually nationally ranked - probably a different story.
I also think people got tired of seeing Bowden on the sidelines - I think FSU has a rebirth over the next couple of years.
Besides, they've always recruited well, now they would be in the SEC...which is infinitely in a recruit's eyes.

What new market would they open up for the SEC?
The non-jort wearing population of Florida?

We're talking panhandle Florida. We essentially get the Lower Alabama portion of Florida in this deal.

LSU should hope the west because that way LSU could drop them as perm opponant. No way the SEC wouldnt take the pay day Fla/FL ST would bring in.

Well, FSU would greatly benefit, but they really bring nothing with them except a name gone by. When they played USF last year there was more Bull fans than nole fans and the game was in Tally....Sad.

Eff that. VETO!!!!!!!!!!!!
FSU is already a national name with a lot of recent history to fall back on.
FSU will recruit well when they are good (have a good coach) and they will not when they have a bad coach. How FSU recruits is not about Florida it's about FSU

great fit imo. add another SEC team in FL. makes perfect sense

I say let them come and bring Miami with them. Though there is no benefits for it for the conference. 12 myears ago it would have been a nice addition.

If the SEC had Florida, Miami, and FSU they would have the whole state on lockdown for recruiting... would benefit the other schools in the conference more than Miami, Florida, and FSU probably (who still get their pick of Florida players anyway)
Similarly IMO adding Texas and Texas A&M would help schools like Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee recruit Texas... but not at the expense of Texas... mostly at the expense of other schools like Nebraska, OU, Missouri that presently reach into the state for recruits

FSU had their chance in 92' but Bowden was to much of a pussy to join the SEC. They can live with their mistake, just like Georgia Tech.

East takes Ga. Tech and FSU, and Vandy goes to the West. Makes sense geographically and strength wise. Would beef up the east a little, but not too much which is what's needed. I like it. Best proposal I've heard so far. Just don't bring in miami.

FSU would not beef up anything. THEY SUCK! Have you not been watching the past few seasons? They've lost 4 or more games in the past 5 seasons and have gone 7-6 three out of the past four seasons... this is all in the shitty ACC. You guys are stuck on their name recognition alone. Take away the title FSU and they're just another middle of the pack ACC team who can't even fill half of their stadium. No this isn't because the scheduling sucks, they sold out their stadium when they were winning against the same teams, it's because they just suck now and people don't want to see them lose in person. What would coming to the SEC change? They'd lose even more games and their stadiums would be full of the opposing team's fans. Vandy, UK, and Miss St have put up better games against UF the past 3 years than FSU.

How would FSU help out. It's not like they'd bring a different tv market or help expand the footprint of the SEC. As a fan i wouldn't mind it but from a business side of increasing revenue to the conference they would do nothing for the SEC. Need to reach untapped markets, not already saturated ones.
And FSU sucks.
And FSU sucks.

Like where?
It's called the SEC for a reason.
And I don't want to hear Texas - they would sooner go independant like ND if the Big 12 completely imploded before joining the SEC.

If the gator fans are against it, then im all for it. The East needs to be more competitive anyway.
And I think some of yall are forgetting how bad arse FSU used to be. No reason they cant get back on top.
Im just not sure Meyer's heart could handle it.

You don't wnat to hear texas but that's going to be a place they contact so as to extend the tv market. I get fandom, but you're myopic if you don't think the main goal of this is to reach more homes and thus build revenue. But since you asked, I'd say va tech is another place that could expand the footprint.
Why are you hung up n the fact tha it's called the SEC (i assume you brought this up as texas is not deemed part of the south east). I could care less about a name.
