Anybody notice this team that Permian played?

Their band is playing Dixie and the mascot is the rebels.

So we are going to pretend like this topic doesn't interest many in the South?

God Bless'em.

My HS still does as well. They're the Rebels and they still play Dixie and their mascot is still The Old Warhorse General Longstreet.

According to my uncle who went to Lee High, the locker room scenes were at Lee.
The hate for Odessa is real.

Midland Lee was a dynasty from 1998-2000. 3 straight titles in the best high school football league in USA

I'm pretty sure that West Monroe played Midland Lee during at least one of those seasons and beat them pretty good.

Edited to add link

My old high school are the Rebels also. They almost changed it a decade or so ago but community backlash stopped them.

I have many friends from Midland. They are the "haves." Odessa are the "have nots."

Think Bama for Midland and Auburn for Permian. White collar vs blue collar. Upper class vs no class.

Don’t get ahead of yourself. I’m pretty sure whenever the best Louisiana or Alabama schools play the best Texas schools, the Texas schools get stomped. Y’all just have more money and people. Doesn’t mean “better”

I thought I would add some facts to the comment that the Texas schools get "stomped" by the Louisiana and Alabama schools.

Here is an article from the USA today....

Hoover (Ala.) posted the first points of the game and never scored again as No. 17 Allen (Texas) earned a 25-7 victory in the Tom Landry Classic.

The victory was the first for new Eagles head coach Terry Gambill, who returned to Allen to replace Tom Westerberg. Gambill is a former Allen assistant.

The game was played before an overflow crowd of more than 20,000, including many fans who trekked from Alabama to watch the Bucs.

Try not to use hyperbole.

Hoover sucks though. John Curtis stomped them when they were at the peak of their dynasty
